Test drive

I test drove a 08 JK unlimited X. Thing is sweeet. I priced out a rubicon unlimited and we basically came up a lil shy of 32k. Its very steep. If I give in my explorer as a trade in, that is 12,500 down. and i would end up with 415/month for 60 months. I still have to call insurance company for insurance quote...kind of nervoud bout that as i have a totaled suv in my past...but it was the ices fault.

If I tell him to order it for me, he can get it in 12 weeks. If i decide anywhere in there, that i don't want it he said no prob cuz he will have no prob selling it once it come in...i was like okey dokey.

I priced it out with the rubi unlimted package, with conveniece group, side airbags, auto tranny (is going to be mainly a DD for now), soft top only, yellow or silver paint (its a toss up). I may throw in a remote start if I go for it. The 2 door version of it is only 2k cheaper.

The serious downside is this is going to hinder me from moving out of the hosue with the payments. Time to seek more gainful employment I think.

Thats not bad. I leased my 08 JK X with S-package, and other crap, MSRP $22890. I pay $395/month 39month term with $0 down, and waived 1 payment. So looks like you are getting a good deal.

Not to pee on your parade Glocker, but I've been hearing rubicons taking 5 to 8 months to deliver. Don't put too much faith in the 12 week quote.

Bad news. I am not able to get the jeep. Prices are too high and i am unable to pay for the jeep as well as buy a condo. I am going to put condo first and jeep 2nd. sadly...

That didnt sound like a sweet deal anyway.. 24,900 in payments financing 19,500 = 28% in charges. I havent financed a vehicle in a while.. so please tell me there are a ton of fees in there and that's not all interest.

Good luck with the condo! You are making the right choice if you have the Explorer cashflow positive & bike!

I hope this isnt news to you, but that doesnt sound like a good deal either. You end up paying $15405 in what they are saying is "depreciated costs". I guarantee they are not saying your Jeep is only going to be worth $7485 in 39 months. I would bet your residual is $14-16K, which if you wanted to buy it out would have you paying $29405 - $31405 (plus additional finance charges) for a $22890 vehicle.

The residual value of the car is $15107.40. The MSRP was $22890 the Invoice $22200, so the dealer doesnt even want to cut the MSRP down. Trust me thats the best deal i could get, after spending 7 hours at the dealership. Then also i didn't put ANY $ down, didnt pay any bank fees, tag fees, registration fees, and whatever else fees they have. And minus one payment of $395. Plus my Jeep is 08, and back when i got it, there was not a single dealership within 200 mile radius which had an 08 Wrangler models. So if you put all those factors together you'll see that infact that was a good deal.

PS: The actual payment is $359 plus tax of $36.

You have no idea how tough it was to make that decision. I want a jeep and that one in particular so damn bad. But yea priorites especially when I am sitting aon an explorer that is paid off. Only thing is i don't like it so for now...I will continue not to like it.
