I recently purchased the TF HD Hinge and Tire Carrier. There has been a noticeable change to their Adjustable Plate in that the plate used to have 4 mounting hole locations for different tire sizes and now there are 3. The problem I'm trying to figure out is what each of the 3 hole sizes are now?
TF removed one set of holes where the 4 hole used to be.
1. Stock
2. 33"
3. 35"
4. 37"
I'm mounting a 35" on the rear. Currently I'm speculating that TF removed the 37" mounting holes. I'm taking an educated guess that they removed the 37" holes because now TF is supplying this carrier to Mopar and the 37" holes may have caused Mopar Warranty concerns during testing.
Here's what I think are the correct mounting holes but the problem is that ALL of the TF install instruction videos show the hole assignments with the 4 hole plates and the supplied install instructions doesn't label the hole assignments. Anyone have any certainty which mounting holes are which for this new TF adjustment plate?
Carbon copies are a bit worn but the way I remember it was 37", 35", 33". I installed BFG km2 35" into the middle spaces and prolly coul have gone lower with my aftermarket rear bumper.
I currently have the stock rear bumper on but am planning on going with the Hard Rock 10A in the future. It looks like I may have to do this the hard way and pick my spare up and see which set of holes fits best with the current stock bumper. Not that easy holding up a 35 by myself and trying to measure at the same time.
The problem is, once you decide to press those bolts in, you've made your choice.
Measure first. Roll your tire until two lug holes are horizontal and at the top. Then measure from the ground up to those lug holes. That will be the minimum req'd from the bumper to the holes in the carrier. Give yourself another inch or so for clearance issues.
I have the TF hinge/carrier with a Hard Rock bumper and I use the middle hole on the carrier. Might be able to use the lower hole depending on how true to size your 35" tire is, I think mine would fit on the lower hole.
^^^just click on the Pic and you will see better where I have mine.
Per our Teraflex Rep, bottom holes is for 33's, which I have, next up higher is 35's and the highest is 37's.
The challenge that I had was to get the tire in snug, but not to tight against the carrier.
You don't want it to tight, but just tight enough so that the tire is snug and doesn't bounce.

It also depends what rear bumper you're running. With my HR bumper I think I have the clearance for the lowest hole for my 35" tire. Each bumper will have a different size recess for the tire. Also tire size, some 35" tires are closer to 33.5".
I have had the TF hinge for going on 4 years and mine came with just 3 holes. I use the middle for my 35. top holes would have plenty of room for a 37" tire unless you had a bumper that was not spare tire friendly.
That's what I currently have, stock Sahara rear bumper with the BFG 315/70/R17's. I'll measure but if there's any doubt I'll go with the middle holes. I should be able to confirm later today once I wrap this up.
I ran into a problem installing this carrier and have to do some uninstall to fix it. I torqued one of the carrier bolts too hard and snapped one off.
It comes with these bolts which need to be pressed in those plate holes. I suppose if you tried really hard, you could probably hammer them out after they've been pressed in but it wouldn't be as simple as just moving the bolts.
Yea looks like you really got on that bolt. I used a 1/4" drive to make sure I didn't over torque these bolts, also added a lil loctite to make sure the bolts don't back out.
Also you cant take the plate off and smack the bolts out with a BFH to adjust? Should be similar to a brake rotor.

I installed my HD carrier yesterday. I used the middle holes for my stock tires, but I'm going to 34's soon.
You can move the wheel studs if you move up in wheel diameter, you just need to press them out. A shop would probably charge $10 for this, don't use a hammer.
Just watch the Teraflex install video and you will see how easy it is to install the studs with a racket. They do not recommend installing them with a Hammer!
If you need to re-position the studs, then just knock the old ones out with a hammer. Then install a new set.
As for the carrier mounting bolts, the torque is 15 ft. lbs. The clamp is torqued to 55 ft. lbs. And the wheel to carrier is at 65 ft. lbs..FYI
I went with the middle holes. I measured the bottom hole to the bottom of my bumper and it was 15 1/2 in. I also measured the bottom hole of my wheel to the bottom of the wheel and it was also 15 1/2in. Expecting some error in measurements, I decided it was too close to decide to use the bottom set of holes, so I just went with the middle set.
Also, just as a heads up. Using the method to pull in the studs like shown in the TF install video isn't as easy as they show. It never is..... I didn't have a large nut laying around like they show, so I substituted a couple closed end 15mm wrenches which work just as well. However, those lugs don't pull in very easy. You have to apply a good amount of torque on them. So you need something to hold that bracket while you apply enough torque. I clamped the bracket into a bench vise with a couple blocks of wood to prevent scratching the paint off. That held the bracket in place and then torque away with a ratchet or wrench.
The instructions that came with mine never had that. Strange.
