Thank God for Hardtops

I am sure glad I have a hardtop with decent insulation today. You can see that it is a little warm here. The thermometer registers high when you first get in but the second picture is after a few miles and is accurate. There are a couple more days like this coming so I am driving not riding my motorcycle to work.

The Jk's a/c sucks a**

There is a mod to fixit though

I hate when people say "don't need a/c, I just take the top and doors off" how bought when it's raining, 90 degrees and sticky? Huh
I know, I am a Sally. Owned my Tj for 11 years with no A/C- love it now

Yeah, the JK A/C takes about 5 seconds to start once you turn it on. When it's hot, it's long enough for your shirt to start sticking to your back.

I just drove around my little burg....after parked all day in the sun and being REALLY hot inside (windows up) I hadn't made it to the first stop sign 1 mile away, and it was frigid air coming out. I tried to run around with fan setting at 3 but it was just too COLD!!!

re: "..hell is cooler......Hell, TX anyway......LOL "

Saw a quote the other day, attributed to (I think) Gen. Sherman: "If I owned Hell and Texas, I'd live in Hell and rent out Texas".....

Denial ain't a river in Egypt! You either have A/C or rationalize why you don't need it.
It really isn't just the heat, it's the humidity.

Google Jk A/C mod.

All it is-is adding a resister somewhere inline, you will see. Cheap and makes a hell of a difference. Ice cold

My a/c I cold before I get out if parking lot. But it takes about 5 miles til it turns 120 into 80ish interior temp. Best ac or heater I've had yet.

You know, I was always hotter driving around when I had my hard top. Now that I have my soft top, I almost always feel cooler. The hard top would keep the heat in and act like a furnace. The soft top lets more air in and keeps it cooler.

I may be wrong, but I am super biased when it comes to Jeeps and hard tops. Let's just say that I will never own a hard top again...

Hello Safari tops

Where I live, 90s is cool. I dont have AC "I just take the top and doors off" and leave the safari top on. I also dont have to deal with rain and humidity enough to care lol. So I am ok without AC

I am a complete hard top fanatic, but I do agree with you Ty. The soft tops don't hold in the heat, but I noticed on my (back 15 years when I had my '96) soft top I also had to run the AC cooler and on a higher fan speed to maintain temp. Do you find this with the JK soft tops?

I have not noticed that mine is holding in the heat nor is the ac weak. I can see where some hardtops without adequate insulation would be a complete bitch.

You are completely right about having to run the AC higher and colder to keep a my jeep cooler. It's the same with JK's. I don't worry about it too much because there are really only two or three months here in Phoenix when my top is actually on. The rest of the year, the top and doors come off.

I own a hard top and a soft top JK and I agree. The hard top is much hotter and seems to take more ac to cool. I only care though because of my 9 month old. If not for her I'd be top off full time.

I live in Columbia where breaking 100 degrees and 60% humidity is expected and I have not had doors or windows on my tj once this summer. Tho there were 2-3 days I thought real hard about. I keep top on on heat tho (soft)

What really sold me on the hardtop was the stench inside of every soft top in used lots while shopping. I couldn't be happier.

And I do have a/c, had system recharged end of last summer, ice cold when I used last sept or so. Just don't use.

But if it gets below 60 I have heavy clothes on. Despise cold. Not built for it.

You guys/gals that talk about you jeep being "naked" all summer" and only having a hard top, you have a garage or car port? I would love to just have a hard top-remove it and just park under shelter when it rains, or at night.
I don't have that luxury. I need a soft top. or I can see if the jeep is a 2nd vehicle, one of those cab covers would be great to.

That why I ordered every option known to man or jeep, except the stupid rag top. I have the remote start, and the climate control thingy and when I decide to go I just hit the start button a few minits before I leave and it's cold air in the summer and hot air in the winter baby! I keep the stat on about 68 to 72 year round. By the way we have had 117 in Kansas this Summer and we usually see about 20 below in the winter. my jeep doesn't leak and i will never remove the t top thingys or the top or doors, I think a lot of people do this and can't get it all back on right. I wish they had a hard top option like a jeep comander has with a glass roof, non opening of course, as sun roofs also are known to leak like seives. I would never even buy a used jeep if any of the freedom top was removed even once. I am just way to anel for that and if my jeep ever does leak it is gone. Hello raptor!

Just curious, not being a dick, why not buy a suv? Part of wrangler allure and selling point is removing doors/tops/windows.

That is why I would pick soft over hard. Mine hangs on easy to use hoist on 2 car garage that houses jeep and dirt bikes.
