Yep, and it also does the distance to the turns, nice little arrows etc. Not sure how the Grand Cherokee's dashboard fits in to the discussion, but it's pretty. Point being that the statement that the 730 doesn't display info to the EVIC is true only in certain cases -- either that or I've got a prototype (which I doubt).

Sorry, it was response to Speed being Displayed:

That makes sense now.

There have been multiple people on this and other forums who stated that their speedo was off after installing larger tires, and the speedo on the 430N was also off and read the same as the dash speedo. There have also been multiple people who have their speed on the 430N show 0 after installing a Lockpick. That's part of how it fools the unit into unlocking, by sending it a speed of 0, so it thinks it's OK to unlock NAV and video in motion.

Here's a Thinker:

A while back many have found a way to hack the Video in Motion Limitation, But only would work on a certain MyGig and that MyGig is the REN, Which is the RER/RHR without the Navigation, but has DVD player.
MyWay update hack!

The RER/RHR has never been done without the hacking device that's overpriced.
So if it can be Hacked without a GPS navigation, something makes it easy to Hack.
GPS Navigation units (which know your movements and speed) can not be hacked easy.
That would tell you that the units with Navigation are feeding the Vehicle with Speed Data and Disable the Video in Motion (stopping at a light, video can play, Nav Keyboard can be used, But as you accelerate at a set speed the Video/nav keyboard disables again.
The MyGig w/out Nav is not receiving this speed data which makes it easier to hack because hacking the internal software of the Mygig from the GPS is not easy for just any Hacker.
Also explains why their is no post etc on a 430 without Nav saying they see the Speed on their Display.

That's what I can't see why this isn't put into thought( a RBZ, which is the RHB without Nav) post etc saying that a Speed is Displayed, cause the Mygig gets speed from speedometer right?
No, that would mean since it has no Mav, same as the REN, it doesn't receive speed data, which is from GPS

Older 430N's (pre 2011) don't display speed, plus the non nav units are made by Mitsubishi, while the nav units (at least newer ones) are made by Harman-Becker.

Honostly, I don't think many people are all that invested in the issue to begin with.

There is no entrenched camp of "believers" to fight tooth and nail.

More like....if it pulls from the CANbus, fine....if it pulls from the GPS, great...either one is works as long as it is accurate.

Easy way to see it, If it has Garmin, It's made by Mitsubishi, RER and RHR are Harman Becker which is Harman Kardon

Here are some pics of System today for Wrangler

And with your answer saying non nav made by Mitisbushi, shows you have no idea the facts on the MyGig units...I have been working on these since 2007...and how long for you?

The rbz's are made by Mitsubishi.

http://mofv.com/mygig/ (look to upgrade the software on an rbz on the far left)

or just a quick Google search.
Google

MyGIG: fixing the Chrysler REN MyGIG (Media Center 430) touch-screen head unit

"These instructions only apply to the Harman-Becker built REN and RER units. The Mitsubishi built ones, like the RBZ, may be different."

For real, it is not that important....

RBZ is the RHB without Navigation
REN is the RER without Navigation

The unofficial MyGig website has been down for a couple weeks again....lol...they do that a couple times a year, guess cost factors high for him....
That site is just now getting Info for members on the Mitsubishi Units...It has Only been for Harman Becker, many have had contacts with them or we would all send Emails then they would send Disc and we share on the site. Mitsubishi units just recently had a post on the site.

Thanks for the offer...but I have not worked up the courage to upgrade my rbz yet (I have a really old software on it) .

I just know I'll manage to brick it when I do upgrade...which is too bad...because some on new software features are really nice....like the 45 minute "memory".

If you would like to see more info on MyGig, here is the sight that they tried to use as a Back-up with the Update downloads. You shouldn't have any trouble updating the RBZ, it takes updates better then most and if CD/DVD you burn doesn't burn right, it just doesn't take it.

The ways to Brick is turning Unit off during update, which is still pretty hard to screw up...LOL

Here's that site:

Also here is the Chrysler site to enter your VIN etc to see if you have an Update, download there or they will send you a Disc...

My main problem is that I have not burned a disc in so long, I'll probably screw it up. I'e probably burned one CD in the past 5 or 6 years. But I'll take a look at that site tonight......thanks.

I wish I could...but my rbz came out of another vehicle, and I don't have that VIN. Maybe I can Google a 2010 Town and Country with an rbz for sale and "borrow" that VIN.

I am the same as Panther. The '07 and '09 rigs have RER and RBZ units from another source.

A lot of info here. Let's solve an easy one.

I loaded a music CD to my HHD. When I went to it to play I found that only one song ripped. Ok, so I try to rip it again and am told it is already on the HHD and will not re-rip.

So then I try to delete the file and start over. It is not on the delete file screen...................

Experts, please walk me through is small issue.

Thanks!

This nav system is the biggest piece of sh*t, I've ever owned. Mine randomly just quits routing. I'll look down and the arrow is just rotating with my direction, but quits moving on the map other than that. I check the satellite info and it shows good signal to the satellites and is tracking altitude, but not LAT and LONG. Sometimes it goes for days like that. Sometimes shutting the Jeep off and letting the nav system power off for 5 minutes or so restores it functionality. People, do not buy this junk if you have a chance. Have the dealership rip this junk out and just buy ANY aftermarket Nav System. Even the cheapest system on the market will be better quality than the factory crap.

Is it still under warranty? If so I'd take it back and make them replace the radio. Mine does not act like this at all. Also, if you've never updated the software, it might be worth doing, it might fix your problem. You can download the iso file and do it yourself in about 15-20 minutes.

Look under the Music folder. If it has a problem with a disc it will right to playlist in the music folder.

The latest I know of is 2.136 for software and 4118 for Gracenotes database. Normally I get them from the unofficial MyGig site, but it seems to be down right now. One of the contributors has his own site you can get it from:

I just installed the 730n & so far I'm liking it. The 730n came out of a 1 month old Black 13 JKUR w/ the alpine upgrade & the person that bought the Jeep actually went to a 130. This is kinda funny cause I have a 1 month old White 13 JKUR w/ the alpine upgrade & it had the 130. Anyways, how do I get the system to recognize I'm in Boston & not Las Vegas? The person I bought it from was in Vegas. I have not drove it around yet since I'm about to head out the door for some St. Patty's Day bar hopping. I'm hoping all I have to do is drive it around to recognize my location, just not sure. The system does recognize my vin # & sirius, steering controls, etc all work so far

My rig is only like 2 days old and I looked through most of this thread and did not see this issue. Does anyone know about this "fan" noise that constantly is running even after the car has been turned off?

I ripped some CD's to my HDD and since then the "fan" sound is persistently happening.

I have read some threads by Googling my issue and it seems it may be a fan cooling the hard drive. I just want to know if anyone has this issue and do I need to worry about it burning out or draining my battery?

I think I may have figured it out. Seems like it is a fan in the 730N that does stop running eventually, but when you enter the vehicle it charges the car and begins to operate giving the illusion it has been running constantly. If anyone has anymore information, please share.

This has been discussed somewhere on the forum. My 2012 730N does the same thing. Get out of the Jeep. Go inside. Come back 10 minutes later, it is still whirring.

Maybe it does start back up when you open the door. I will try the same drill and leave the window open so I can tell if it is whirring before I open the door.

Stay tuned.

LOTS of great info on here. Just wish that some of the ORV park around the nation would be added.
