I did not renew travel link. It was useless.

Yes they do turn off, thats so you don't scroll through things as you are moving. The lockpick solves that. I think its funny that you can scroll through a hard drive of songs, but you can type in an address or look up sports scores. I do like the live weather radar though.

I seem one post about 2.137 but no one has given access to it yet, but the 2.136 is supposed to fix Bluetooth issues which is what I need.

Anybody ever have their 730n say verticle bar when you try to place a call. It keeps repeating it until you hang up. This only happens on the first call after starting up..but after that it works fine. It seems to have started about the the time the last IPhone update came out (6.1.4)

I am pretty sure its an Iphone firmware thing as my kids IPhones are running 6.1.3 and does not have the same problem when paired.

And now I'm an idiot. I just figured out what it was. It says "O" vertical bar and keeps repeating it. I usually hit the phone button and it works fine after that. I let it go all the way through and the last thing it says is "O" is connected. Fail because my IPhones name is O|||||||O ...LOL

Oldie but Newbie

Hey everyone, I found this thread via google while looking for 730N updates. Although I do not own a Wrangler, I do own a 2012 Ram 1500. I went from a RES 130 to 430, 430N to the 730N in about 30 days from driving off the lot.

I have been a Mopar guy for over 15 years. I have been on the chrysler300mclub.org site forever and I am currently on the ramforumz.com and ramforums.com sites as well.

Since this is a 730N thread, I have a question. A fellow ram member has a 430N and his user interface is redesigned from the blue interface. Anyone seen this on the 730N? Apparently, its a new UI on late 2012's and 2013's (town and country etc, high speed bus that still use the mygigs rather then the 8.4 screens) vehicles.

Thoughts???

PS, this is NOT photoshopped, this is real. There have been several members who have this, and I have seen this first hand on the dealer lot.

I know you can get some with blue and green buttons, but I wouldnt know what part numbers where the interface changes. I would just get a 430N and go with that, seems to be the better one by far.

A 4 hour 730N nav install (owed from the dealer at purchase) has turned into days. Tomorrow will be day 3 of them trying to get it to program properly. They thought the sales code was wrong and waited forever for "detroit" to get them another code which then didn't work either. Now "detroit" has gone over everything and says the wiring needs to be done differently. I really hope tomorrow it all starts coming together and working right. Today I waved at a fellow wrangler from my rental jeep compass. Kind of did a half wave and save as I realized I wasn't in my rubicon. This all confirms for me that using my wrangler as a DD is the right choice as it is really not as fun to drive anything else.

...fingers crossed they get it right tomorrow.

Has anyone successfully updated their Gracenotes DB? Every update that I've found so far has failed to install.

To update the unit, no.

To update the maps, yes.

Your dealer can update the unit itself via disc, or you can find the software online and do it yourself. The maps you order directly through NavTech.

You must have an iPhone. Your battery is almost dead.

I've read elsewhere that only Windows 8 phones and BlackBerry work with the 730N Uconnect texting features.
I know my Iphone and Galaxy S3 don't work.
Has anyone found a phone that works with sending and receiving texts through the 730N?
I'm kind of leaning towards a S4, HTC One or possibly the Sony Xperia Z.

You guys are saying that the text send/receive function works on the 730N with your Iphone 5's?
As in you can press the phone or VR button on the steering wheel, say "sms send", "send", "sms read" and use it to compose a message, or when receiving a text messages have it prompt you and then read them?
And you can do this on the 730N, not the 430N.

Because,
I just got back from the AT&T and the dealership. The HTC One, Galaxy S4, S4 Active, Iphone 5 and BlackBerry Z10 would not send or receive text messages through the 730N. My previous Iphone 4S and S3 would also not do it.
After being at AT&T for an hour and a half getting different sales people to bring different phones out to my Jeep and pairing them up, not a single phone caused a prompt when a text message was a received.
The 730N also never recognized sms send, sms read or send as a command. It would simply change the the radio station or do something that sounded sort of like "SMS or Send" (I don't have an accent, all the other voice commands work just fine)

After all this I drove to the dealership. The service manager there says the 730N does not support texting yet. The 430N will, but due to the Uconnect unit itself being a part of the 730N rather than a separate device like it is in the 430N, the update to support the text feature is dependent on the manufacturer of the 730N and they haven't released an update.

If you guys got it to work how did you do it?
Thanks

Hi all.

Sorry to bump a post that hasn't been replied to in nearly a month, but I have a question and I'd rather bump the "official" thread rather than start a new one.

I'm planning on buying my first Wrangler sometime late this year or very early next year. I want to buy new, as this will be my first new vehicle, and I'm pretty excited about the Wrangler.

Now, I would love a Rubicon. It has so many of the options I want, but it's at the very end of my reasonable spending limit. I'd be more comfortable financially with a Sport, Sport S or maybe even the Freedom Edition.

I understand the Rubicon has a lot of neat electronic toys, but the one that I'm most interested in is the uconnect 730n. I rented a Charger a year back that had this option and I really came to enjoy it's interface and ease of use.

On Jeep's website, in their vehicle builder, the Sport, and Sport S don't have the option to upgrade to the uconnect 430 or 730.

Is this an option that can be dealer-installed? Is it cost effective to have it installed on a Sport or Sport S? Or should I just bite the bullet and get the Rubicon if this is a "must have" option for me?

I'm an IT technician by trade, so I get off on fancy touch screens.

Definitely not cost effective dealer install, they are going to charge well over 2 grand. Just get the Jeep that makes sense for you and self install the 730n. If you get Sirius radio you will have the GPS antenna pre installed and if you get uconnect you will have steering wheels controls and microphone pre installed but you will be removing and selling the actual uconnect module as its part of the 730n

So if I get a Wrangler Sport S with Sirius and the Connectivity Group package, what all will I need?

I've been looking at the 730ns on ebay and they talk about a Fast BUS and a Slow BUS. Which does the Wrangler have for the 2013 model year?

All Wranglers are high-speed bus. So focus on those.
