I have not, nor have I seen it mentioned on other discussion sites.

Its very odd, I noticed it after I sync'd my new iphone.. I had an audio freeze for a half hour or so both in radio and the u-connect feature. Pulled in the driveway and noticed it, you can literally watch it happen it appears and then it slowly dissipates and is gone. Like I say.. For 3700 miles on the clock.. It needs to be taken care of. Im hoping it's an easy removal and re-install.. And not a rip the dash apart deal.

Export files from HDD to thumb drive?
My 730 got twitchy and the dealer agreed to order a new one. I have a bunch of cds copied to the HD and other files on my HDD. Has anyone figured out how to export them so I can back them up?

I had this happen to me once when my top was down and it poured rain before I was able to get to my car and close up shop. It eventually went away. If it seems like water, maybe try using a hair dryer to evaporate it. Mine went away on its own.

here is what another forum suggested

keep a USB stick in my glove box and back up my RHR's address book anytime I make any major changes, because it does have the tendency to lock up and then blow everything away... since it won't sync the actual addresses from the address book on my iPhone, that makes things quite annoying.

This won't work if you keep media on your RHR... just address book...

- Format a USB stick (2GB or less) using the FAT file system (not GPT) on Windows. For some reason, a USB stick formatted in the MS-DOS format (using MBR) on my Mac doesn't work right...
- Stick the USB stick into the port on your RHR
- Power it up; go to Disc mode (without a disc in there), and then hold down the menu button and hold the two SEEK buttons.
- It'll warn you about Engineering mode, etc, etc. Ignore that.
- Scroll down to "HDD Backup" and select it
- Select "HD Backup to USB", confirm your stick

You can restore the same way after it decides to nuke everything at random... just select "HD Restore from USB".

If you keep having your RHR eat your address book, make sure you complain, LOUDLY, to the dealer

If cds copied to the HD are media then this is of no value, right?

You are right - just tried it. This process gives a whole series of "technical" options that the tech's must use to diagnose the unit. I did not see anything for backing up media, only addresses. The local dealer rep ordered me the new 730 and said he would look into backing up the files. Not sure if they will do it or just give me the steps.

Any know if its possible to view game camera pictures from a sd card if I used a USB adapter, would you have to download from card to drive or can you preview pictures from the sd card?
My jeep is currently still in D status.

I'm looking to order a new Jeep and I'm debating whether to get the 430N or 730N; both with the connectivity group. My question is what additional features/functions will the 730N/Connectivity Group combo give me that the 430N/Connectivity Group combo doesn't have. Trying to decide if the extra $800 for the 730N is worth it.

Here's a quick breakdown:

430N/Connectivity:

- uses Garmin style navigation
- offers hands free SMS if your phone supports it
- allows you to load your own POI's using Garmin's POI loader
- does not allow for voice control of navigation
- does not offer split screen view of radio and map

730N/Connectivity:

- uses Chrysler style navigation
- upgrade rumored to be coming to allow hands free SMS
- no ability to load POI's from external source
- allows voice control of navigation
- allows split screen of map/radio

Same for both:

- Bluetooth phone and audio streaming
- use Navteq maps
- allows turn by turn to be displayed on EVIC
- steering wheel controls for EVIC, and hands free functions

I chose the 730N/Connectivity combo for mine. I had the 730 in my 08, and loved the split screen radio/map as well as full voice control and wanted that again. Also, make sure you compare the prices evenly. When I got mine the 730N was $1000 and Connectivty was $495. If you get he $730N, the Bluetooth is built into it, so the Connectivty price dropped to $160, which makes the difference more like $500 between them.

Latest 730N update is out... 2.184 As per usual, it is available on *sox* server. I haven't tried it yet, but probably will this coming week. Based on the TSB, it doesn't address most of the things people complain about. Then again, there are often other fixes that aren't documented since there was never "officially" a "problem"... YMMV

ETA: Gracenotes 5411 update available as well.

Not sure if anything is different, but the new firmware and Gracenotes didn't break anything...

Do you have any Bluetooth streaming issues with your 730N? We do...a ton actually. I'm wondering if the update would be any help.

My 730N works fine with bluetooth on an AT&T iPhone4 (not 4S) running iOS 6.1.3.

Does anyone with an iPhone been successful getting their addresses to sync along with their contacts? In Nav mode, whenever I click on a contact the address does not show so I can't use Nav with any of my contacts. Phone numbers and dialing works fine.

I just got back from dealer too and they said they did an update for the 730n.

Any ideas?

I wish this worked for sure. It didn't on the old RER in my 08 and doesn't work on my 2013. It would be super nice if it did.

I had my dealer update the software today (to 2.184) and noticed no differences - still the plain blue background. I thought the update was going to give the new "black" background with enhanced graphics.

Also, the Gracenotes appears to still be at 4118 - should that have updated automatically as well?

I have mentioned before that I am having most if not all the same issues as y'all. Most bothersome is the total freeze up of the 730N and or my Windows Phone when streaming music.

The dealership replaced our entire 730N and I verified on Sat that it already has 2.184 installed...made no difference. It is still a POS.

I am working directly with Chrysler and the dealer and my next plan is to ask to 'downgrade' to a 430 and have the cost difference refunded to me...we'll see what they say. In any case, I'll be dammed if I'm going to pay ~$1800 for a HU that can't even stream music!

What exactly do you mean by stream music? If you mean Bluetooth, my 730N streams from my iPhone just fine.

The Gracenotes is a separate disc that needs to be done. If you don't want to take it back to the dealer, you can download the ISO yourself, burn a disc, and have it updated in about 30 minutes.

As for the background, I think it's being confused with the 430N. That is a totally different unit and the displays are Garmin based, so the 730N will not be updated to look like it personally I prefer the look of the 730 over the 430 myself.

You can update both the head unit operating system software and the Gracenotes database data without going to a dealer. Just do a search for sox RHR 2.184 mygig update jeepgarage on the Google. You will find what you need there and a link to where sox posts the various updates to all of Chryslers head units going back quite a few years and generations. If you can copy some files to a USB drive and a DVD-R, you can update it all without a dealer appointment.
Gracenotes is a separate update and I haven't heard of too many dealers doing it as a matter of course. Half the time the dealer doesn't even have the latest head unit version.
The 730N won't look any different. As another poster wrote, the change in backgrounds and all the visual customization frilly stuff is 430/430N-centric. Totally different system software. As I posted above, there is a laundry list of changes and fixes that the 2.184 update addresses. None of them are "shock and awe" type things in my opinion. Still, I applied the update and everything run fine, as it did before the update.
Streaming music has never been an issue for me on an iPhone4, nor has syncing address books or using bluetooth to make a call. I haven't tried using the address book and spoken command to create a route to somewhere.
Anyhow, I bought an iPhone5S yesterday, so I'll post if I run into any issues with it.

As for the background, I think it's being confused with the 430N. That is a totally different unit and the displays are Garmin based, so the 730N will not be updated to look like it personally I prefer the look of the 730 over the 430 myself.
Was able to locate the Gracenotes update iso through some quick Google-fu and burned a DVD last night. Overall, it was very painless and now I'm all set with the latest, greatest versions (although it's difficult for me to see what actually changed). Seems to work well for me now, just as it did before the update.

Checking to see if anyone is using the iOS7 with the 730N and having any problems. Haven't upgraded my 4s iPhone yet. Everything works fine now, not sure if the upgrade could be an issue ?
