Hey guys, I am in the process of finding a 2012+ Unlimited, either Rubi or Sahara. I have some friends that own them and because my daily driver was recently totaled in a Hit&Run, I am going to take that insurance check and trade in my 11' Mustang GT. I know they're completely different cars but I am a overall car enthusiasts and really love the unique driving experience of the Wrangler. My question is, I don't have a specific amount set in mind, I want painted fenders and top, nav and heated seats. But I don't really care if its a rubi or sahara, I would love to say I am going to get into some real off roading, because it looks like a blast but I cant afford to live that lifestyle....just yet. Anyways, the most recent vehicle to pop up on my radar is a 2014 Rubi unlimited with 7,500 for $37,000. It's got every options that I was looking for, is this a good deal? When I bought my mustang, I was railroaded by the salesmen and had an awful experience, so all I want out of this experience is to know I purchased for a good price. ANY advice would be really appreciated. Like I said, all I really want is a 12+, if anyone thinks it would be smarter to just get a 12+ Sahara and spend around 30K instead, I'd like to hear it. Or if spending a few grand extra for a rubi and peace of mind of more warranty. Thank you for taking the time to read my post!

additonal info

I should add that there is added value in buying used in my state. I don't know how sales tax works in all states, but here, if its a used to used purchase, I only haves to pay sales tax on the difference of the vehicles. If its a new purchase, I have to pay for the whole car. Its a savings of about $1,200

You might have the tax backwards (don't know your state). In Ohio, you get the trade value as a credit against the NEW car price.

My '14 JKU Rubicon, new was around $34,500 - My used '12 was traded for $27K. Sales tax was calculated only the difference ($7500).

So you'd need about $29K selling it to someone else to equal 27K on a trade.

I'd buy new, you can get 8-11% off MSRP, other threads cover that (invoice info/deals,etc) in detail

5J is correct, at least in Texas, the sales tax is deducted off a new car purchase. 37k for what sounds like a used Rubicon seems a little high without knowing your state or exact options. For reference about a month ago I was quoted a NEW 2014 rubi unlimited with quite a few options for 36,400.
