I have half of a toe in this waiting room. When I was in college, I had Diamond Back (back when Diamond back was still Diamond Back) cross bike that looked black unless it was directly in the sun. That was about 17 years ago....and it was a pretty unusual color at the time. But I think back in the 90's..there was a push for those kind of colors...especially from Ford. It seemed like Probe's and Mustang's came in some sort of blue/purple color.
I'm really curious to see some of the new colors in person. I can't think of purchasing one sight on unseen. The GF is looking at a new CX-7, so we went and looked at some on the lot. The difference between the pics on websites and the pics in person are night and day. (Copper Red on the new CX-7 looks SWEET in person...but looks like a regular old red on the website).
New paint chemistry can really amaze the casual observer.
We were camped next to a giant $300k Class A that looked "black" in the late afternoon sun. The next day early morning through late afternoon, that color migrated through a range from black to deep maroon/purplish to shades of warm earth tone brown and back again.
It was so different we at first thought it was a different rig there.
Owner said it was something called "Prism" paint, a high-buck option that had different reflectivity depending on sun angle to the suspended glass micro beads in the paint.
get in--buckle up--hang on
"soothing agricultural implement/personal servant/Walter Mitty multidimensional access utility device conveniently travels on pavement when necessary and often keeps me warm/cool/dry/soothed as needed."
BFG is too black for me.
with almost 100 days of 100* heat I need something that will reflect heat not absorb it. If I lived farther north I would be here with you.
Good point....And that is part of the reason why I only want saddle interior.Winter Chill (with saddle interior) should be farily cool in the summer....even with leather. I'm really curious to see this coloer. I sounds like my old Diamond Back...dark green in direct sunlight, black the rest of the time. Would look good with either a painted top or a black top.
Some guessing as to when it is available to order:
From the 2012 sticky, production begins 10/17
Crush was supposed to start on 9/17 but was delayed until 9/23 (perhaps longer)
Pat says the factory is 100% allocated through October
I'm guessing production will start 10/31, and it won't be available to order until 10/1. A two week delay. Just a WAG.
If the delay is any longer it looks bad for a delivery before Jan 1.
Your WAG is disheartening, though I'm sure its just about spot on. As long as we can get the order in on the 4th, that'll be step one down. I'm just hoping the terrible dealers I have locally will be able to put my order in the minute they open. If you aren't sure about the look of the BFG on the German site, check it out on the Liberty, maybe.........
Crush just got pushed back 'til 10/1 ... hopefully it doesn't impact other builds.

Since we Black Forest Green folks still have just over a week before we can put in our orders, I'm using that time to scope out the best deals. Does anyone know if the TL discount can be used on top of other deals? USAA pricing deals for example...
Got an email from my salesman confirming 10/4. He says he's confident it will be here before Jan. Not sure if he knows something we don't, or if he's just trying to keep me happy.
Actually that's good news for me at least. It helps my denial defense mechanism. You see business is bad so I'm putting off the 2102 MY buy to a 2013 MY buy. Now that I won't be able to have the 2012 BF Green Rubi until at least Jan 2013, I might as well wait till spring 2013 and buy a 2013 Rubi. Then I can enjoy it, and modify it while the weather is good, instead of waiting for good weather. Thanks for at least making my day! Gotta love those defense mechanisms!
I guess I'm in this waiting room because tan is unavailable and I don't really care for the other colors. My dealer still doesn't have a paint sample for me to look at... is BFG a metallic color like the silver or solid like white or black would be? The natural green I looked at was fine from a distance but up close was a bit to glittery for my taste.
