"The Combo" Duratracs & MB 72s

Like many of you, I love the look of "the combo" on JKs- 33x12.5x15 Duratracs with a 15x8 MB 72 wheel in black. However, I would like to run smaller tires (don't throw rocks at me please ) because I don't want to lift or even add a leveling kit, and I'm mostly interested in the duratracs for their snow capability. Of course I also like them for their looks, but I'm not going for the super-beef look as much as deep snow/general winter on-road performance.
That said, I love the wide stance offered (without spacers!) by the MB 72 wheels, and like the way they look too.

So my question is whether anyone runs the 31x10.5x15 Duratracs with MB 72 rims. If so, what width should the rim be? Still 8 inchers? 7?

dear sir, they will fit completely fine without needed a leveling kit or spacers or anything of the sort

Yeah I know that the 33s fit. Don't want them that big though. I should have mentioned that I don't like the look of the 33s on fully stock wranglers- they look crammed in there to me...

The question was whether I should get the same width wheel if I order 31s. Thanks!

i had 7 people in my jku (give me some slack they were under the influence and i was driving them back to our hotel) and my tires didnt rub, even though i was riding quite low in the back

yea, the wheel's are 8" wide you can still get the mb72s and the smaller tires

if you check my profile, i have a few pics of the mb TKOs (same dimensions as teh mb72s) with my 33x12/5 duratracs. PEER PRESSURE, im trying to persuade you to the 33s HAHAHA. but honestly, you can see what they look like on a JKU they arent that big

Haha thanks. I didn't mean to insult your look- I just don't really like the look of the wheel wells so filled up. Plus, the 12.5 width is much more than I need/want. I just want some good snow tires/rims that I will install in early December and remove at the end of February. The rest of the year I'll be running (gasp!) stock tires and wheels.

Your rig looks great as a cool/tough offroading machine. I'm married and work in a dorky office, and no longer have any desire to be cool/tough

I won't be ordering for a while, but maybe I'll dig up this thread in the winter time and post some pics of the 31s. Thanks again!

i didnt take it as an insult =)

if your just getting them for snow tires for winter use then it makes sense what your doing. i cant wait to test mine out in MA snow this year! i wish i had them when i got 3 feet this past october

I'm in CT- we got that crazy October storm too, which made it hard to get to my dorky office, which is why I want duratracs!

I'm with u there! I live in MA on the South Shore and I got my 33" Duratracs in January. Of course, because I got a Jeep and put some good tires on for the snow, we got nothing! lol. Blame me. If I bring an umbrella it doesn't rain, wear sunscreen it gets cloudy, etc...

get yourself a good snatch strap (kinetic) as well. that way you can pull all your dork co workers out of their spots when the grounds crew at your dorky office plows all their dorky corollas in

where on the south shore? my aunts in braintree so im out there all the time.

well you can blame me for the rain we had this weekend and the upcoming rain this week. i got my side mirrors so i can go doorless on friday...sure enough it rained most of the weekend

I grew up in the Dedham area, but I now live in Whitman on the Abington line.

i like the dedham area.

im up on the new hampshire border, winchendon. we got 35" of snow from that october storm last year, then hardly got 1' all together for the rest of the year.

I'm also in CT and got the Goodyear SilentArmour in the stock size on the stock rims. Did not want to go any bigger but like the look of the SilentArmour and can hardly wait to try in the snow. The place I work has never cancelled work because of weather, however they did let everyone go home when Hurricane Gloria hit years ago.
