Just for basic info..I checked into USAA buying service today. I can save about $700 over the TL discount by using their numbers and service. If you are eligible for USAA, you need to go check it out. I was surprised. TL was gonna get me about $325 under invoice... USAA is $900 under.. No math required, Train Boy...

But then you have to have served your country to get that, which most of you wimps likely have not...

Hey now. That's not nice. Great deal for those who have served and I say they deserve it! I have a lot of respect for our military men and women, but if it wasn't for guys like me moving the materials used to make all of those weapons you guys use......just saying, we all do our part, no matter how indirect.

Nope. I recv'd a phone call from a Chrysler rep assuring me my Jeep was, in fact, shipped, due at the dealer's in Martinsburg, WV on 10-24. Today's Insight indicates it's ready, but waiting to be shipped ... ? Whatever ... at least I know my Jeep really and truly exists.

I think I have decided on these rims

ATX - AX185 Crawl

Thoughts?? I Think they should look pretty sharp on the Sahara Unlimited Crush...

I order the 7 spoke polished alum. wheels with my Sahara, any ideas what I can get from them and my tires on the open market?

What site? Something the general public can access?

On the surfrace it sounds like a part shortage/quality issue. What really sucks is to be waiting even longer for the one part of my Sahara that I actually don't want. I wasn't going to pay the extra $ for Rubi just to be able to remove the painted flares, but I much prefer the black.

Just curious, why not a Sport S then. Which feature drove you to the Sahara?

For me it was the leather seats and some of those features.

I looked hard at a Sport S....which is actually a better "value" than the Sahara (especially for the Unlimiteds).

But the ability to get factory leather with heated seats for $801 (invoice), along with a saddle interior, 115V outlet, factory remote start for $175 (invoice), and the upgraded shocks is what won me over. Plus....as much as I don't want to pay the inflated cost....I think I want the painted top because I had been planning on getting a light color (Sahara Tan or Winter Chill) in order to keep the heat down in the summer. I'm not sure how much heat the black top attracts. However....depending on the color of the Jeep, I may take that money and go with dual (black) tops instead.

.

Ability to order leather was a factor for me too, as was seat heat - though if I did it again I would have gone Katzkin (orange/black). No open top vehicle should be without seat heat, in my opinion! And the top should only be up in winter and severe rainstorms.

Aside from that, Sahara just looked to be a more DD slanted vehicle than my 2008 X-S. Since this is going to be driven more often, mostly on pavement and with the whole family, I thought the side steps, upgraded sound, and gas shocks were a good fit for my needs. Auto headlights is ok, no biggie, and yeah not a big fan of the flares but maybe they'll grow on me.

And ok, I do admit I like the look of the 18 inch tires and wheels. Wouldn't mind going aftermarket with that, though, to personalize my Jeep some (aside from the big white T's I would love to paint on my doors but probably won't)!

Oh yeah, don't think you can get climate control on the Sport. My X was the first car in 3 to not have it. I missed not having to fool around with the fans/heat. My Lexus stays set on 72 year round.

Was thinking of RU in order to go virtually anywhere for work and fun.

Heated cloth seats. In the future probably Katzkin. Was thinking of black/gray but will look at orange/black. What do they look like?
Will look at Neopream (sp?)

Rag top only.
Sometimes top down even in winter and minor snowstorms.

Like black fenders.

Initially full doors.
Later, aftermarket Element doors with lower add-on panels and upper add-on windows.

On the hood brings back great memories.
Came from the poor side of the tracks and much of my life did not have two nickels to rub together to make a dime.
However have traveled much on other people’s nickels first as a photographer and manager. Now normally travel for document and knowledge management (up to 10,000,000 documents a day) along with general management.
Back in my photography days took leave from my government photographer duties to go to an exhibit of my photos in Athens, Greece followed by assignments in Africa.
From Athens flew to Cairo for a couple of days. There bribed a couple of guards and made love in an ancient burial chamber on a sacrificial table.
Next day flew to Africa where we alternated between lodges and camping out.
One night we were camping out in a small forest. Early morning heard large breaking sounds.
A heard of wild elephants was feeding on the trees around our camp site. When they had reached our camp site, they split and regrouped on the other side so we were surrounded by elephants. They could have killed us if they had desired.
We made love on the hood of the rented 4x4 while the elephants watched on a hot night with a clear sky.
Since we were roughing it, there were no heels or garter belts.
Hope to have many pleasant memories with the new Jeep.

Been lucky enough to do a few things.

However, have had things to overcome at almost every step.

Thanks for your thoughts.
