After 6 weeks of hiding, sneaking, and modding the wife and I got to make our daughter the happiest ginger on the planet. Thank you to everyone on this forum for all the great advice and ideas.

She's going to love it! As funny as it is, the only girls I know who kept one vehicle all throughout high school and college all have JKU's. Don't let anyone scare you about safety either, I had a BMW M Roadster in high school and my first two years of college, I couldn't go anywhere without doing over 100 mph and driving like a lunatic. As soon as I bought the Jeep I stopped driving erratically and learned to enjoy cruising in the right lane doing the speed limit or only 5 mph over. The reason why I'm saying this is that you are going to have to deal with people who think buying a Jeep for a young person is dangerous and irresponsible. But think about it this way, you won't have to buy a new vehicle in a few years because she got tired of her first car and I'll bet money that she will drive the Jeep more responsibly than she would a small car.

Wait a minute... I thought Ginger's had no soul? Shouldn't she be driving a Camry? :D

Congrats!

That has got to be the best present you could have given your daughter. I don't think you'll need to worry about her appreciating her new Jeep and constantly remembering how nice that was for her parents to get her a new JKU. I just can't see anyone not enjoying a JK on a daily basis. I know from experience. I had to buy mine though, someone out there dropped the ball on giving me a JKU. All kidding aside, you could really go lazy on the parent front now, I think you're covered as two of the best parents known to this forum.

She's pretty amazing actually :) 4.65 GPA (all honors course, AP and dual credit college courses), made Varsity soccer team as a freshman, plays competitive soccer for FCKC Academy level and practices 4-5 nights per week. And MOST importantly, has never had a boyfriend and knows what a giant waste of time they are!! LOL

Loki, she's a very lucky girl. With some smarts I take or she wouldn't have gotten such a awesome gift from you guys.

Geeze, back when I turned 16 (1975), I got an AC/DC 8-Track and went to Mcdonalds, Dad's treat, big night! Car? I was told, work and make sure you can pay the insurance too. He wouldn't help out at all, but it taught me Life's Lesson, you get nothing for nothing. So I did what was needed, worked, saved, worked,saved... Got my first car in 1977. Took my driver's test with my Grandfathers car, My Old Man wouldn't let me use his vehicle. Anyway, hope she appreciates this kind of gift at 16... I got 4 kids, 7 grand kids, and all would like you to be their Dad too! Awesome gift, make sure she knows what she really has and not to abuse the Wrangler capability out cruising around. My opinion only !

I get were you are coming from. My wife and I both come from very modest backgrounds. And both had jobs as teenagers to buy our first cars. I think she appreciates it. She does work very hard between her school work, her soccer schedule, and chores she truly has not had time for a traditional job but her soccer and grades should pay for college so we thought she deserved the reward. Not to mention we won't have to drive her a hour each way to soccer training 4 nights a week anymore. Now if we can just find a way for her to go med school for free. :) if she does maybe the wife will let me spend her college fund on a toy for me. :bop:
