It's missing all the functional gizmos from the concept, yet it still costs an extra $4500.

The JW Speaker headlights, LED turn signals, nitto tires, and lift kit no where to be found.

Holy Ricer Batman!! Does it come with one of those "Fart Pipe" exhausts?
I just started to read this thread and holy crap I have tears in my eyes from laughing at this response. Thnaks, I needed that.

I don't want to be the odd man out but that thing is beautiful. It's about time Jeep admits the old school utilitarian thinking of the wrangler crowd is not going to keep it in business. Special editions like this are where the money is at.

I like it...

Nothing wrong with liking it, it is a cool idea. But what they really should of made was a American edition. Rims were red, paint only comes in blue, the speedometer has a picture of Chuck Norris, the rear tire cover has Hulk Hogan flexing, and the radio only plays Hulk hogans theme (I'm a real American.) accents of bacon instead of a dragon. This will be a real money maker.

i personally don't think its that bad looking... i don't care for the gold accents, but im sure people some people will buy it. hell about 3 weeks ago was the first time i ever saw a 10A driving on streets i was also in daytona...

jeeps appeal to certain people not everyone. so im sure this will be another moneymaker for them. i seriously doubt they'll be sitting on dealer lots collecting dust.

I feel there should be a huge Gong in the back...

Thats got to be one of the uglier jeeps i have seen in a while.

Yes roughly based on standard content it's not bad
1795- for painted hard top
1100- for leather (more if you value Nappa)
95- for floormats based on their slush mat upgrade
500-700 for a hard spare tire cover
170 Connectivity Group
That's 3860 of the 4500 MSRP with standard content based on pre-price increases.

I heard leather went up to 1300 so 4060 of it and I don't know about the others.

You haven't even valued the graphics, decals, black wheels, interior touches.

I like the color. But not crazy about the theme.

On a somewhat related note, I have always liked the story of how the Rubicon model made it to production:

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Story - Jp Magazine

Especially this section:

Of the roughly 10,000 engineers that worked at Chrysler in the mid 1990s, less than 100 could or would call themselves off-road enthusiasts. And much fewer could claim to own a modified Jeep that was actually useful off-road. So that leaves only a handful of people who could intuitively know that there was a significant number of people willing to pay thousands of dollars more for the ultimate off-road Wrangler. That's a pretty small cheerleading section against bean counters and marketing folks who come up with things like a Laura Croft Tomb Raider package.
Of course, different strokes for different folks. ;)

Except the Rubicon came before the LCTR Edition. The LCTR was a Rubicon special edition.

(The most capable factory Jeep was the 2012 MW3 - packaged around a video game too - just like the 2003 LCTR.)

My fave quote from the article:

The Key Was to Do It Backwards
So instead of using words and PowerPoint presentations to try to convince management, a small group of engineers decided to take a backwards approach to the vehicle program. They decided to build a vehicle and let the experience of driving a well-equipped Jeep persuade people.

I agree but the way I see it, as long as Jeep doesn't stop making top of the line factory performers like the rubicon, I'll be happy.
