The GoPoint BT1A...like a procal on steroids

BT1A-JK Jeep Wrangler Calibration Tool - GoPoint Technology

Hey guys, this came up in another thread, but I thought it deserves it's own. I used this company's software and cable (old) to have an iphone obdii scanner, and just came across the fact that they make a Jeep programmer. Not only that, but you also get a smartphone OBDii scanner in one, which is one of the best tools I have ever bought. Check it out yourselves!!!

There are not many reviews on the app store for the app, but the few there complain of multiple crashes and problems. It seems like a better deal than the procal or flash cal but I'm not sold yet.

Edit: ok there are 2 apps, the normal diagnostic app, and a different one called "JK calibrate" for the JK specific stuff. It has no reviews. I'd be curious to see if a cheap chinese bluetooth OBD scanner like this one would work with the free app.

It very well might. Wanna be the guinea pig for $12? If it does work, it will literally make the procal and the flashcal worthless. Having said that, maybe the GoPoint guys have something in their unit which "authorizes" in the app?

I downloaded the JK-calibrate app and it says "waiting for GoPoint Module". I'm about 99% sure these guys are smart enough to have some kind of authenticator built into the app so it only works with their dongle. I'll still try it with a cheap knockoff one if I can get around to it. I have a few friends that have them. The other GoPoint app just says "Device missing" when I press scan. And there are numerous free apps that work with generic scanners for most normal purposes.

too bad there is no android app.
and you can code scan from the dash and clear the codes with a procal
i think i would stick with tried and true. and it says it can change gearing for autos but doesn't mention manuals.

Oh, also, the flashcal seems to do a lot of little features that the GoPoint apps do not, such as DRL, and locking the rubicon axle in 4 high. A lot of the flashcal features can be accessed in alternate ways by reading the Jeep manual though.

99.9% sure you are correct. These guys seem to know what they are doing and that would be one hell of an oversight.

The thing thats great with software based vs hard (ie procal) is that new features can be added, updates, etc. Procal is a buy it and that's it.
