Talking The time has come....

That my Jeep has finally made it in from Hawaii. I will be going to Atlanta in a few to pick her up. Its been 3 weeks without my Jeep and I can't wait to drop the top and ride her again.

My buddy shipped his car from Seattle to Maui back in 2002 for $1,200. If you don't mind me asking how much they charging these days?

So the drive did not go as planned. When I filled up the Jeep it said I only had 200 miles to the tank with a avg mpg of 11 - 12 but in Hawaii I was getting around 300 miles to the tank with 15 mpg. Any thoughts?

I am in the Army so they paid for it to be shipped to Atlanta.

if that description is accurate, i could see a lower mpg rating over stock (even with a different ethanol content in the fuel)... what gearing do you have, and what have you done to the powertrain? the lift and wheels are added weight, and the 315 tires are going to grab more road. I'm somewhat of a n00b at wrangling, but I've read a lot of threads here about the extra weight of lifts, tires and wheels, bumpers, etc that will add drag to the vehicle.

This is just a wild guess, but the elevation difference could be doing it. You were probably much nearer sea level on Maui than in Atlanta. Now you are hundreds of feet above sea level. Then again I've read that some claim to get better gas mileage at higher levels so who knows.

I don't think any of this is a factor here. He said he got better mileage in Hawaii just the way it is now. All he did was ship it.
