The unthinkable happened today...I dropped my door!

So this morning I'm getting all ready for Jeep Fest, I get the soft top down, 3 doors safely up the stairs and into my townhouse, and it happened. I was carrying the back door up the stairs, and my darn sandal caught the step and i tripped up the step with the door in my hand. It all happened so quick...

Make me feel better guys!

I didn't take any pictures of the door as I prefer to forget about my stupidity. I didn't have any touch up paint, so I used white out In the meantime.

I have a bunch of pictures from Jeep Fest. I'll find a way to upload them..

Are you able to store the doors in a garage? That sucks, I don't even know how much that would be to repair.

My door Isn't dented or bent. I simply chipped the paint on the outer end of the door. I would suspect the entire door would need prepped and re-painted. I highly doubt my body shop would want to blend the door for me...

Touch up paint and then go over it with Langka and you'll never know it was chipped. I've done it many times and have been quite pleased with the result.

Leave the chip. It's part of your story.

Langka. It is a product that removes excess touch up paint to make the "blob" of touch up paint even with the surrounding paint. It works great.

Bummer about the door. I'll bet it won't happen again... and remember, REAL men have ALWAYS worn sandals, not neckties!

I have a tough time doing cosmetic repairs on vehicles, since it seems to be a law with me that I just damage the same thing again making me twice as angry! Case in point: had three dings pulled on my F150 and one week later, while grocery shopping, hello ding! So, my role: touch up paint, unless it's always visible to me and bad enough to detract from the overall appeal.

Your situation, with only a chipped edge or two? Since it's white, you'll never notice with the right touch up paint.

Godspeed, fellow sandal wearer!

At least you didn't drop the door on your toes. That likely would've hurt a bit.

Hope you get the door looking good, there are tons of pics from the festival on facebook. I think you can even submit your pics to them and they repost them. Just search for Bantam Jeep Festival!!

If the chip is in the EDGE of the door, you could just put an edge guard over it. Put the touch-up paint on to keep it from rusting. The edge guards are about $6 a pair. Takes 1 pair to do a door from hinge to latch. Also saves you from chipping the paint when setting the door down in the garage.
