Husker Nation needs to step it up with the wave. I wave to everybody in a jeep in Huskerland and rarely get a wave in return. However, those few that do return the wave makes it worthwhile.

Same is happening in NW Georgia.. Less than 10 years ago I had a CJ and the wave was alive and well.. I had a couple of other rides between that and my current TJ.. and the waves are few and far between.. I get so pissed off.

NOT dead in Michigan. I drove across state last week and had several waves, even a JK waved to me in my YJ with a full hand wave, over the median! Man, he must have been a long time jeep owner for that one!

I also had one red TJ stop to let me out, and I stopped for another white jeep to go in front of me. You know, the ol' "hey there is a jeep up there to pull out, I better slow down the cars behind me to give him/her room to go in front!"

So what's the rule for these scenarios:

1) You are sitting at a traffic light and the Jeep is accrossed from you waiting to go the opposite direction. Do you continuously wave until the lights change and you proceed past each other?

2) Somebody pulls up right next to you at a stoplight. Where as it seems easier to wave to them as they are driving by from the opposite direction or with you, how is the wave initiated if you are stopped next to each other.

I think for #1.. you etiquette is just to admire the Jeep until passing then give a polite wave or approval.. as for #2.. I think a head nod is in order... maybe even a smile, or if tops are off, a word or two..

I got you beat there, i got a wave from the driver, passenger, and the 3 passengers in the back seat. and everyone in my Jeep waved back, so we had 10 people waving at each other.

Jeep wave seems alive and well around Metro DC. When I drive my girlfriend's car (not a Jeep), I have trouble remembering not to wave - otherwise I get weird looks.

nice,

#1 I would wait until we pass and wave as going by.
#2 I would reach over accross my passenger and wave out that window, as well, I would beep the horn as we seperate from each other. (either from an exit ramp, etc...) Otherwise, we'd just ride side by side until something else got in the way.

In my experience I got way more waves in 1995 with my first Jeep. In 2010 the South Eastern Pennsylvania wave is totally lame! Most people look at me like I'm a goofball, and my friends always laugh when I get dissed

I passed quite a few Jeeps today, most on the highway so no time for a wave....but on local streets, I passed 3 or 4 I think...waved every time and got waved back to twice!!!

That's pretty amazing for the NYC area!!

And so, over the last month, I have been giving the "wave" to dozens and dozens of wrangler owners. I've waved to old men, young men, women, couples.........new wranglers, old wranglers, shiny wranglers, wranglers that looked like they belonged in a junk yard......

And you know what? Out of about 100 waves I given....I received one wave back. Most people just look at me like I'm completely insane.

I have come to the conclusion that, at least in Rhode Island, last rights have been given. The wave is dead.
Long Island as well...Over the past 2-3 years I have gotten 3 waves back. And 2 waves initiated from other people. I dont bother anymore.

I hear ya....

I had the front 2 panels off today, beautiful afternoon to be driving with half the top off...so I guess the Jeep wave spirit was in full effect!

Bringing back the wave.

18 years passed since my last Wrangler. I have been disappointed in the wave returns so far; however, I think it may be my own fault. I've been a little sheepish with my completely stock (so far) 4 door unlimited, thinking the CJ's/TJ's might not approve. The heck with it...call it a mini-van if you wish, but it's a damn fun and good looking mini-van.

Memorial Day weekend, beautiful weather forecast around Chicago. I'm switching the hard top for the soft top and will be a waving fool. I'm also going to teach my kids and any other passengers to wave. With all the above factors in place I'm hoping to get a high return rate!

I've had my jeep for a little over a week now and I am amazed how many people here in Arizona wave. I've initiated almost every wave and I probably get 3/4 of them back. Today alone I received 4 waves and one person looking at me like i was crazy, then again it was a little old lady talking on a cell phone...

Hey, Mole ... Welcome to the forum, and if you have your top and doors off your more likely to get a wave! Even from JK's!

There is lots of Jeep waves going on here in Northern NJ.
Also waves in the Porsche, Vette & Mini Cooper......I don't have the Mini anymore, but that was a cool ride!

The noght i bought my JK, another JK owner came up and just talk. He told me to make sure I wave. Now as a Corvette owner as well, I have learned the importance of following tradition, because vette owners do the wave as well. I wave at every jeep I see and for the most part, they all wave back.

Some people wave others just look at me like I am Crazy! O well no big deal. Now when I drive my sons RubiTrux everybody waves! The same with my Orange Rubicon on 37s people just look and wave, Point even old timers now that makes you feel good.
