The wind defelector makes terrible noise!

Holy mackerel! I installed a WADE wind deflector (above the windshield) on my '08 JK this weekend. First of all it deflects NOTHING with the soft top open; Most importantly with the soft top closed you would swear a helicopter was about to land on your roof once you hit 30 MPH! What's up with that? Does anyone else have this problem? This noise is unbearable!

That is very disappointing! That product was exactly what I was looking for.
Question: Is the bottom fitted tight to the windshield header? If air gets under the deflector that would definitely make it sing.

I purchased and installed this deflector for the hell of it and I am quite happy with the result. While there is some noise...it has drastically reduced the noise I was hearing without it. I tried it in several locations and found that moving it up (away from the windshield) really increased the noise. I have mine placed right on the bottom edge of the header and it is nice. Tested it out at 80 mph and the noise was acceptable.

I was seraching the forums regarding this deflector and found this thread. I was curious if any others have tried this, mainly those with hard tops. All of the feedback that I have found has been for soft tops. I am planning on either riding with the hard top or riding without a top at all. The main issue is that (and I have heard of others complaining about this) the freedom top never really fits back in the "factory state". I am getting a great seal when it comes to water, but there is a very small skew to the way the passenger side sits when placing the top back on, and this causes a hissing noise at faster speeds. My thought is that this will help deflect the wind over this spot and releive all of the road/wind noise. Otherwise, with the top off, the louder and more wind, the better.

Here is a link for the product I am talking about:

Wade Automotive Products 20102 - Wade Automotive Top Wind Deflector for 07-11 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

And to those who are just going to bash and say: "its a Jeep, its supposed to be loud, etc..", I realize that, but if I can alieviate the hissing, I want to.

Thanks to all for your input!

You don't need a "Bandaid" to correct any wind noise from a freedom top--

The passenger side (goes on first) and drivers side (goes on second), both have alignment pins on the outside --forwward qtr of the top and they will sit FLUSH, no matter how many times removed--unless the pin is bent/missing, or the rubber seal has been deformed/debris-etc-

Mine has been off/on --over 30 times and still seals water/air/Bat Guano--
