This entire post is a great reminder to me why my first purchase for my new 2013 JKU was a set of Smittybuilt rock sliders. I have had too many situations where inconsiderate people have hit my car with their doors etc. and just ran off. I wouldn't even drive my new ride until I had them installed for this very reason. I like driving my built TJ for this very reason as well; you really can't hurt it.

I was curious about that too. I'm not a teacher, but am a parent. I view a failure like this to be a failure of parents. My kids won't get away with an attitude like that!

Many like to blame the schools when, in reality, it's the parents themselves. Schools aren't broken; parenting is.

My cousin and I were sitting at the outside patio of a Starbucks a few months ago after a trail day and heard a loud metallic ding and a lady start yelling about how people need to watch out for her new BMW. My cousin walks over to his JKU with a 4 inch lift and some heavy duty rock sliders and the lady had majorly dented her door but barely knocked the mud off his rock sliders. She kept threatening to take him to court because even though he was parked in the center of the spot and sitting 50 yards away, He hit HER. Some people...

You have to really be upset with someone to dig up a post from 2 years ago to set them straight on it!

Brings up an interesting question though. If you have a new Jeep that has not yet been lifted what slider sticks out from your Jeep the furthest? Just for my own Jeeps protection.

This is an epic thread to say the least. From a bang on the sliders to the rotten school system. I think this possibly could eventually beat What did you do to your JK today?

Did no one notice this thread is 2 years old and got randomly bumped? Hahaha

Oh and sliders won't always protect you from D bags. Some douchenozzle in my parking garage at work put 2 knee or fist sized dents in my door for no reason. I have frame mounted sliders, a lift and was parked on a raised section of the garage so I had a good 5" of height added to my Jeep. NO way the dents were caused by a door. No paint damage, just dents from someone kicking or punching it.

That's the great thing about this forum. Nothing is really old. Almost all topics are relevant.

Yep, and zombie threads can be interesting because of the time between posts, some things stay relevant and others drastically change...

This was also one of the posts that got me convinced to buy some rails that stick out and sell my Rubi rails.

My wife has a placard for such a condition. Don't be in such a rush to judge.

I disagree, mom's with a tired kid should not be parking in handicap parking, if you can walk without a cane, then I don't think you qualify for handicap parking.
I think that handicap parking should be for those that physically need it, not because some politician wanted some extra votes and granted them access.

Do you realize that there are plenty of valid reasons to get a disabled parking tag/placard other than walking with a cane? I do agree with you about the mom and tired kid scenario though.

Yes, I really do, but from what I see, more people are abusing it than actually need it. I work with a guy that is a disabled vet (yes, I am a vet too, U.S. Army), he parks in the handicap parking at work, we both are running around on our feet all day, tossing suitcases coming off of airplanes all day long. I understand the whole "grateful for service" thing, but he has zero problem working physically hard all day long and certainly has no problem walking. Frankly, I don't think he should be using the handicap parking, I think it should be saved for those with a true need.

From what you said about him on his feet and tossing stuff all day, I'm inclined to agree with you. It could also be that the placard/tags are for someone in his family and he's abusing them. Many a time I'll see someone pull into a handicapped spot with disabled tags/placard and some young kid will get out of the car and sprint into the store. Not my place to judge, but I'll still be dubious of it.

There was one time I was renewing my placard and as I was leaving motor vehicle, I had someone stop me and tried to buy my old placard off me. I politely declined.
