Thinking of buying a JK

Hey guys... Just looking for a little advice as I've never owned a JK before.

Currently own: 04 Black TJ. Auto.
Looking at: 2007 Black JK. Auto.

JK upgrades/features: 4" suspension lift. Black alloy wheels. 61k miles. 32"/11.5" tires. 3 owners. Clean Carfax.

1. Dealer asking price is 17k.
2. It only has half doors.

My two questions:
1.How expensive and difficult is it to find/buy full steel doors (will the paint of new doors match a 7yr old jeep)?
2.For you JK owners, is this a good price/deal?

I've been shopping and a lot of 07'a seem go for around 18-19k, which makes me think something is up for 17k. Just looking for a little feedback from people who have been through the process of purchasing one before!

Thanks in advance!

The paint on the doors is the leas of your concerns. It's great to have both half and full doors but unlike tops, my experience is that full doors are not usually readily available except from the salvage yard.

My concern with that '07 would be the 4" lift. Depending on which lift is, who installed and how the suspension was maintained, it may need a collection of new joints. It's not common to install a 4" lift for 32" tires so the previous owner probably took the larger wheels or tires with him. You have a TJ so you know how Jeep owners can do their rigs. Fo with your gut.

This is the info I could muster up from the dealership about the lift:
pro comp 4" coil kit
pro comp 4" front coils
pro comp 4" rear coils
pro comp ES9000 front and rear shocks
pro comp rear drive shaft
Tera HD trac control bar

Is there any way to tell about the joints or problems?
I do have a TJ, but its pretty stock, with the exception of 2" spacers and 31" tires.

All I can say is drive it. Procomp is at the bottom of the pack as far as lifts. That and 4" is a lot of lift on a JK. If not done right will drive/handle like ass.

With all older JK's .. If you don't have the experience. Have somebody go through the steering ie Tre's, ball joints, bolt torque (track bar), unit bearings, u-joints.

Is hate to see somebody buy somebody's else's headaches. Just do your research and check that jeep out 100%

This is good info. 4" lifts are pretty common on TJs, but good to know they aren't usually done on JK's.

The Jeep is located about a 6hr drive from me, so its one of those things where I'd have to test drive/inspect and decide to buy on the same day (no way I would go back and forth).

I'll give it a little more thought. Thanks.

Sounds like a good find.

Any legit dealer should have a Carfax available for it.
Look for repairs or diagnostics involving engine oil consumption. Some 07's had issues.

And as other stated drive it. Wandering all over the road and pulling to one side under braking can be worn ball joints, control arm bushing wear or any number of front suspension issues.

Shift into 4H and 4L in some gravel and listen/feel for snapping, clicking or popping sounds from the front u-joints. Some 4WD bind while turning is normal but it's quiet. You've felt it in your TJ I'm sure.

None of these are terribly expensive repairs but I'm sure you'd rather buy a winch or something than spend money fixing a bunch of stock parts.

Ask them to throw in a 3 month drivetrain warranty?
