Probably not the first car he stole but it was the last. I hope the owner of the Jeep is OK.

How about that OEM front bumper that everyone always says is a worthless piece of plastic junk? Seems like it did it's job and held up pretty well.

I can't even recognize the Honda and all of it's supposed "safety" crash test reports.

Brenda Rodriguez, of San Bernardino, was driving through the area around 8 a.m. and said a Goodwill truck with minor damage to its rear end was parked near the crash site.

Madden said investigators are trying to determine if the large truck was also involved in the crash.

That Jeep driver is a very luck person, no matter how you slice it.

Took a look at the other pictures linked in the article, Jeep looks like it's lifted and has aftermarket fender flares, and with the front driver wheel off the rear passenger suspension is flexed out pretty well. The other vehicle (Accord?) is pretty well unrecognizable, and has at a minimum had the top cut off, likely by firefighters to get the decedent out of the vehicle for EMT and coroner.

Agree the Jeep fared pretty well, looks like majority of the force was distributed forward of the passenger cabin, with the suspension taking a good amount of the hit (thus the spring just laying on the ground, FL wheel sitting on the ground, etc...)

In most any accident, a good rule of thumb is the larger (heavier) vehicle wins. 3400lb Accord vs. 4600+lb JKU, the Accord is going to take more damage. Equal force into unequal target and all that.
