This works for me (personal mod)

Wife bought me an ipod, nice, nowhere to really put it in the jeep......
Looked online and in several stores including auto part stores, didn't like anything in the way of mounts, so I pulled out the drill...........

Yes, that is a drawer handle I picked up at Lowes.
I have a small clip I am adding this weekend for the hanging wire.
Works perfect with no movement of the player at all, and when I pull the player out, the handle doesn't look like a mount of any kind.
If I pull the wire out, and leave the handle, you will never know there are holes drilled, although you may wonder what that handle is for.......
I know it isn't something everyone would do, (Wife was less than pleased when I was drilling holes in the dash of my '09) but I like it.

Nice! I take it you dont have to hold it? Can you let it just hang there while you scroll?

Have mine in the same place but I put it on 2" wide Velcro. I throw it in the lock box when I go to town.

How do you use it from the glove box?

Yea, the plastic case obviously has a clip on the back, well the handle is just high enough so that the clip touches the plastic below the radio, so it is "locked" in place. No swing, or sway, it doesn't move at all. Easy to use.

I have never had luck with velcro, or any kind of sticky backed stuff in my vehicles. At some point I jump in, only to find whatever I used on the floorboard. Oh, and I just remove the ipod and pocket it when I leave the vehicle....

its works and thats what counts.
i have power windows and couldnt use that spot so i bought the bracketron universal mount (for jeep.dodge) bracket and universal holder, it was about $30 which i thought was alot for it but it works great and i love it. puts it at the top near the radio and kicks it off to the pass side... dont have a pic but i think someone esle on here has it as well.

velcro works wonders too......I'm still in the dark ages with my motorola razor flip phone...but I put a little strip of velcro between the a/c vents in the dash....and a little strip on the back of the phone.....viola!!! Fits in that spot perfectly...looks like it was meant to be there...and NO holes drilled!!

I have a little 8GB sansa that I put a little rubber type case on it. I just lay it on top of the dash and it never moves unless I am doing so crazy offroading or changing the playlist. :P

I've probably drilled 20-30 holes in my '10, most on the center console, and up to 1" holes. the first 10 were drilled in '09

I don't think "less than pleased" really says it for mine...

Drawer handle looks awesome though. Nice choice. I'd look into getting a stereo cable with a 90 degree end on it for the AUX connection.
