Those of you going aftermarket head unit and Sirius

So I just installed my Pioneer AVH 3800 this weekend. The wife demanded I get Sirius so I ordered the module and dreaded running the antenna. I was annoyed Chrysler used a proprietary connector for the back of the stock radio and I didn't want to spend even more money buying another darn adapter.

But when I looked at the adapter for the already run Sirius antenna that came with the jeep I noticed that even though it was proprietary it came apart. So I took it apart and suprise! It was the same as the plug on the antenna that came with the new Sirius module. I plugged it into the Sirius module, fired up the pioneer and I got a Siruis preview channel. Unplugged it and it didn't work. Awesome, it worked! The only thing was it felt like it didn't go into the module very far and might rattle out.

But I plugged in the antenna that came with the module and it was tighter but didn't plug in farther. So I just zip tied the stock Sirius antenna into the module.

Here is what the proprietary piece looks like that you have to remove.

I hear you on that! Some days it seems that I cannot stop hemorrhaging money.

What does JEEP stand for again? Oh yeah, 'Just Empty Every Pocket'!
