No mention of the engine, transmission, transfer case, drive shafts, suspension linkage, springs, or shocks, but they're got the important bits like door handles and cowl screen tracked down for us...

It's a clever bit of advertising - all about space utilization and presentation. You show the Jeep with a circle of all these places in America where stuff comes from - everyone feels all warm and fuzzy about how American and Patriotic the Jeep is - and promptly forgets that a Toyota has more American parts on it than most domestic vehicles.

VEHICLES IN THIS CARLINE:
U.S./CANADA PARTS CONTENT: 71%
NOTE: PARTS CONTENT DOES NOT INCLUDE FINAL ASSEMBLY,
DISTRIBUTION, OR OTHER NON-PARTS COSTS.
FOR THIS VEHICLE:
FINAL ASSEMBLY POINT:
TOLEDO, OHIO, U.S.A.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN:
ENGINE:US
TRANSMISSION: US

71% is better than most.As a resident of Ohio I think its pretty cool and Jeep employs a crap ton of people here .

Love the videos. I am also a Buckeye by birth and I was really excited to see how many parts come from Ohio. It is very interesting for me living in Indiana now to see the Honda's and Subaru's that are built here, the whole car market is so global now.

This is awesome, I knew the Wrangler had a high percentage of United States parts content but did not know how much of it came from Ohio and Michigan.

I am a proud Buckeye by birth and the fact that I am helping to keep my friends, family and neighbors back home and my family friends and neighbors here in Detroit where I have made my home working at good jobs with retirement and health insurance is all the more reason I'm glad I bought my Wrangler.

I guess Chrysler is right, the cars imported from Detroit benefit more than just those of us living in the Motor City.

Most 'American-made' 2013 cars - Autoweek

They break it down pretty good.

Edit: It's more than parts. It's where the profit goes, where the R and D is done, etc. etc. etc.

Full numbers are here http://kogodnow.com/autoindex/

Toyota may be made primarily in the US, but that's not where the profit stays.
No different then an American owned pulp mill in Canada, profits don't stay in Canada.

Profits go to where or to whomever are the stock holders. Every major manufacturer is a "Multi National" corporation. I own stock in Ford, Toyota, Honda, Coke, Pepsi, etc. etc. if you have a managed 401k then you probably do also. GM builds more vehicles in China than in U.S. and Canada combined.

I used to have GM and Chrysler stock. It was stolen from me a few years ago. I haven't the stomach to buy more.
