Time for an oil change

What is everyone recommending for oil in a 2013 JK? I wanted to go with mobil 1 fully synthetic.. Any thoughts on that? I know Owners manual says the mopar 5w-20 , but ive been told to running fully synthetic is cleaner and requires less changing. Not worried about cost. Thanks.

Keep jeepin!

Search is your friend. There are hundreds of oil threads with a thousand different answers and they almost always start an argument because everyone is completely sure that their way is the correct one.

As I understand it Mobile 1, while an excellent oil, has not yet met the Mopar standards, Penzoil Platinum meets-6395 standards.
Synthetic are fine to use on your engine, it is all on pages 567-568 of your owners manual.

This holds true in every forum I've ever been on.

That's too valuable to dump. People actually buy that to make biodiesel.

Our 2014 Jeep owners manual says to use API approved oil. Since we already have Motorcraft 05w-20 synthetic blend for our Focus, and it is API approved, and Motorcraft is a outstanding oil, that is what we will use. I plan on changing my oil at 3000 mile increments, so synthetic blend is fine.
I like to make the first oil change around 1000 miles, so that is what we did.
We are now at 1,500 miles and going strong.
Walmart stocks Motorcraft oil at a reasonable price.

I use Penzoil or Castrol. They both meet Chrysler's standards.

Dino oil is Best!...synthetic is Best!...change every 3000 miles or your engine will explode!!...change every 5000 miles!...Change only when the "change oil" light comes on...change oil light is activated by milage...change oil light is activated by learning the drivers habits...change oil light is activated by those money hungry shell oil executives, they have a master switch mounted on their desktop.
There, that should just about cover everything that needs to be hashed out, I saved us all some time.

I use Mobil 1full synthetic. "Not approved" simply means that Chrysler changed their testing standards and Mobil 1 hasn't completed the testing yet. It's a 2 year process from what I understand. Mobil 1 is one of the best oils on the market and you can't go wrong by using it. Change your oil every 6,000 miles and never have a care in the world. Period.
