Time for new headlights. Hella's?

I have read so much about headlights that my head is spinning.
Now I seriously have a detached retina and I can't spend more than a few minutes on the computer at a time until I heal.

So right to the question.....

I'm pretty sure that I saw a post just before my surgery where someone swapped the junk headlight housing for a Hella e code and left the H13 bulb.
It appeared to be a HUGE improvement, and a fix that can be done in stages if I'm not happy with the results.
I am thinking that I will start with just the Hella housing, with my upgraded h13 bulb from 6 months ago. ( I can't remember what it is. X something) And if that isn't cutting it then go to an h4 bulb with adapter. Then if that isn't enough add the harness.

Is there a special Hella e code housing that I need to look for, or just a round 7" ?

Thanks for any assistance. My eyes are going crazy, and I am done for a few hours.

Dave

The Hella E code housing [7 inch] is the one you want. It is popular because it can accept regular halogen bulbs or the aftermarket bulbs with a higher Kelvin rating or a 75+ watt bulb [the high powered bulbs aren't street legal].

They have good performance, are reasonably priced, they are glass - so they don't yellow over time and exposure, and different bulbs can be used. They are standard equipment in European market Wranglers.

Feel better!

I went with the Cibie but the Hella is much better priced as the Cibie is almost twice the cost and I'm not sure if it is really worth it.

I also made my own wiring harness which is identical to what susquanna (spelling?) sells.

When I check for Hella's on Amazon, there is one that is 165 mm and one is 7".
I have followed links from this site for the 165 mm housing.
Not sure which one to buy.

165mm or 16.5 cm is 6.5 inches. You'll need a 7 inch headlight.

In order to run higher wattage you need to use a separate harness.
I haven't seen a 7" hella e-code that uses H13 bulbs, only H4. Can anybody post a link to this H13 one? if it even exists, google doesn't want to show me.

Wow,,, maybe I mis read the post, but I was positive that one poster
said that all he did was swap the housing for Hella. He even posted before and after photos with just the housing swap.
I'll do some digging and see if I can locate it. (not much, because I am having trouble reading still)

Thanks for all of the help.

Save your money. Either upgrade to at least trucklites, or dont waste your money. You will just be disappointed.
