Tinted led side lights and turn signals

I'm looking to replace my front two orange running lights and orange turn signals with grey tinted led lenses and lights .
I have 2010 unlimited mountain and don't want to have to cut or splice wires, anyone have a recommendation?

I wouldn't think you'd have to cut/splice anything. On the TJ's they just swap out. Haven't looked at the JK yet, no real need on ours since it's red and the amber looks ok.

Don't do it, do it to a Honda but leave the jeep alone.

Tint your markers and blinkers?
Why on Earth would you want to render your safety lighting less effective?

Please don't do it; it's childish.
Consider that your safety lighting isn't just there to protect you and your family; it's there to protect me and my family.

I agree with everyone on the safety factor, but as you requested, go to RECON Truck Accessories They sell mostly truck stuff , but they do have led tinted light kits for the JK Jeep. It should be on the menu on the left side, def there, saw them recently.

I think he means put the grey lenses with the amber bulbs. Still has the same lighting when on, but when off they look grey instead of orange.

Right, the bulb output may be the same, but it's being filtered through a gray lens, reducing the overall brightness.

Ain't no big thing takin the hood to the wood . I think it would look good on my silver Rubi. I want to see what they look police first. It really depends how dark the tint is to affect safety.

Inferno girl you rock. Looking forward to the results. In not referring to the "black" lenses just the tinted ones.

Agreed, the right looks like its got better light output, probably because the tint has less resistive properties than the orange

From the pic it would appear that the tinted one on the right is brighter. However, I am not a fan of the shade of light it puts out--kinda like the original orange look myself. Call me old fashioned....heehee!

There are several companies that make orange LED blinkers and side running lights, the light appears tinted and then when it's turned on it's a bright orange.

Thanks for the pick. Where do I buy and how much. I'd also like to see a day shot to see how they look.

I was thinking about doing this to my TJ too. I think it looks pretty good with the clear/smoked lenses. And no it does not affext safety as stated earlier in the thread as it is the same bulb and the plastic has less light filtering properties.

A picture is by no means a test of photometry.
The first thing to realize is that, subjectively speaking, the human eye is a terrible judge of perceived light and its effectiveness.
It takes equipment to test light output.

Morning Bill
My eyes are what sees the blinkers on the other vehicles on the road.... I don't have any fancy equipment in my Jeep telling me that I can't see those blinkers because they're tinted and therefore the perceived light being emitted from them is a misnomer.....

I won't argue the point that a pic isn't a scientific test of photmetry (what ever that is ). I'm sure you're absolutely right. All that really matters to me is that my intentions can be seen by the other drivers around me who aren't too busy texting, or eating or talking on the phone to notice that I'm going to do something other than just continue on my current path.

I respect your opinion, and always appreciate your input, even when I disagree... And quite honestly, some days, I'm just downright argumentative.... Please forgive me for having one of those mornings..

Ah.. when I read gray, this is what I was thinking. This wouldnt make it dimmer, but if you blacked it out then yeah, no good.

I think this jeep belongs to user: nicolas-eric
