Tinting your windows

I just got my front windows tinted 15% but my soft top windows are clear.

What is the norm? Do you usually go darker in the back right?

Would it look stupid to go 20% in the back?? The rear is usually darker isn't it?

It usually darker in the back(for looks and legal issues). I know you can buy the windows tinted for the soft top, but the highest Ive seen them was 31%. Im a fan of dark tint but i think darker in the front would look weird. So when i tint mine, ill go 35 front, and the tinted softtop windows at 31%.

Common consensus is that one cannot tint the rear windows of a soft top. The tint is designed to adhere to glass, not vinyl and will bubble/peel in short order.

Buy replacement rear windows that are tinted [Quadratec and others sell them] and save the originals for trade in time.

I don't mind buying replacement windows that are already tinted. But I only see they come in 30% and I'm not too sure if it would look ugly with 30% tint rear and 15% front...

Normally you would do darker in the back. I have 5% (Limo tint) on the back 5 windows and none on the front, the fronts are already slightly tinted from factory and with the reduction of light coming in from the back 5 the fronts look a bit darker. In Alberta we can't (not supposed to) tint anything on the front doors or windshield. A lot of people do anyway and the police don't seem to bother too much.

If you want to do a tint on the plastic you could try VHT NightShades, works great on taillights so it would probably work on plastic windows.

So you think it will look stupid with 35% in the rear? And 15 up front?

Or should I just look for a damn hard top

Wonder if you could use VHT NightShades to tint the rear windows? Just a thought. I'm like the others. Don't think standard film would work but maybe a spray on tint like NightShades would.

Im picky how my ride looks. I know its usually dark tint in the back but with light tint in the back and dark on the front.... Didnt want it looking tacky.

If nothing else, buy the tinted rears and have the front windows retinted to 35%.
