Looking at tire carriers and it sounds like rugged ridge or teraflex is the way to go. Any others I should consider looking that cost less, but still get the job done.

Well, I bought a brand new AND powder coated Poison Spyder Tire carrier off CL for $250 retail is $900 plus the powder coating. There's excellent deals out there if you're willing to look, be patient and have the cash when the deal does pop up.

What's the largest size tire you plan to run?

Normally not a big RR fan, but I'm pleased with the tire carrier. Would also look at the ACE option.

The RR carrier is the first Jeep part I purchased from a non-forum sponsor. You can usually find a 20% off code for autoanything.com, making it the cheapest deal out there.

If you just want a spare mount I think the Teraflex or RR would be fine. If you want or need something that will accommodate shovel/axe/fuel cans I like the Ace or Maximus-3. The Ace is looking really good for me and is not too expensive.

I just purchased the smittybilt pivot and will install it next week. I read good reviews.
