Tire size question

Hi, I am currently running on stock 17 inch wheels and tires, 255/75r17 and I am looking to buy steel wheels for my future winter tires (I want a set of dedicated tire for winter) and I am hesitating between 17 and 16 inch wheels.

In the exact same tire size as I am currently running, the choice is very very limited, so I am looking at other sizes that will keep the same diameter. I looked into 265/70/r17 (half an inch of difference in diameter) and there are quite a few more options available.

I also looked at 265/75r16 (half an inch of difference too) and there are way more options.

So my question is, with only half an inch in diameter difference between my current tires and both the 265/70r17 and 265/75r16, can I make the switch easily without having to change anything with a ProCal? Also, having 265 as the tire diameter and currently running 255, is the difference big enough that will require spacer wheels or it should be ok?

Thanks!

You might try looking in Tires & Wheels - Jeep Wrangler Forum. Might also want to post a copy of this message there, too.

You'll be fine with 265s.
Look at the ST-Maxx in 255/80-17 also. Great tire.
