So I just got my Jeep back from a friend of mine who installed my lift (Lack of time), Now I'm saving up for tires! So I went with 2.5" Rock Krawler Mid Arm X-Factor. I'm thinking either 35's or 37's (leaning more on 35's for the price). My question is what is you 2 cents on size and brand? I'm liking the Rugged XHD tire kits so far but figured I should hear peoples input

Buy a tire for what you need it to DO, not because some folks on the internet say it's good.

I need my tires to rock crawl and do daily driver duty. Nitto Trail Grapplers hands down. But any of the big wide mud tires would NOT be your best bet in snow which you get in Colorado, regardless what anyone tells you. You do not want big heavy wide lug tires in snow.

Indeed we do. I had a 09 with 35x12.5 M/t's before I traded up and it would truck along in the snow until the snow got to the bottom of the door.

And ya I'm just trying to see the popular options and get some feedback from others. Much like my lift I do tons of research before buying.

I have been really happy with my Cooper ST MAXX tires for all around use. They are aggressive enough for rocks and trails but are quiet on the pavement. Lots of siping for good wet traction as well. I think they look good too. Pictures don't do them justice. They look much more aggressive in person.

If snow is a concern I would suggest the following:

1. GY Duratrac
2. Kanati Trail Hog
3. BFG KO2
4. General Grabber AT

All come in 315s or 35s.

Kanati and BFG come in 37 as well but may not be best for snow.

I am most likely going with the Cooper STT pros for my next set

KO2's here, no issues handling the slushy crap with my Jeep, and every rocky trail i can get it through without lockers for now :)

I really like the GY Duratrac's, they perform very well in most every condition that I have encountered on and off road. We live in the mountains and get a fair amount of snow every winter The Jeep has LSD diff. I am on my 4th set now with several different vehicles I plan to buy these as long as they make em.

I bought BFG KO2's. I got a good deal at Discount Tire. Snows about once a year in North Texas and melts so sorry.....I'm no help there. I have had them for about 1,000 miles so far and I can say I'm very pleased with how little highway noise they have. I was surprised by that because I thought for sure they would be a lot different from the Stock GY SRA's. They have been great in the rain we have had here recently for traction. I haven't tested them on the trails yet.

But they do look awesome.....:bop:

I had Nitto Terra Grapplers on my Silverado, handled the Kansas City snow and ice like a champ. No weight in the bed, VERY VERY seldom used 4wd and no drifting unless I got going too fast for the conditions (more due to rear weight than anything).

I went with Nitto Terra Grappler G2s on my Wrangler due to that experience. The 315/70/17s measure out to exactly 34" tall with my jeeps weight on them.

Ive also had two sets of KOs on my Silverado and feel the Nittos out performed them, especially for the price. I dont think you can go wrong with either. Im fairly price conscious when it comes to a high wear item like tires so I go for bang for buck. That said, Im just not a fan of Goodyears, Ive just never had good luck with any of their tires.

I bought 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I like the look of 37s much more than I do the look of 35s. Also I don't get to wheel as much as I'd like, and with it being my daily driver I thought this would be a good tire. There aren't many reviews out there but the price was right, $315 shipped to my door.

I'm getting them balanced and installed Saturday and I can share what I think of them after that.

Where does everyone get their tires from? Discount/tire rack, or are there better places

I've got the Kanati TrailHogs on my Trailhawk right now, and that's what I'll be running on the Rubicon as well. They did awesome in the snow/ice we get way up here, and are decent on rocks. I've done a few runs with them (on the Trailhawk) and haven't had any issues with cuts or punctures yet. I may be odd man out, but I'm very happy with them.

Ill hopefully be switching to Kanati Trail Hogs next summer. I currently have Trail graps and they look good but i do not need a MT ( And i dont like having the same as everyone else). The Trail Hogs are lighter, 3 ply sidewall, and also have a S rating.

Ill also throw out the Atturo Brand. I had the trail blade MT on my duramax and loved them.

So right now I've narrowed it down to Mickey Thompson's ATZ P3 (35 or 37's) and Nitto Ridge Grappler's (37's) and maybe the Duramax if I warm up to them. Now I have two important decisions to make before I finish deciding on what; is keeping my warranty worth the wait, and what size do I want 35's or 37's?

Thinking aloud: I know the trails I want to-do I won't need 37's, But as my friend's wheeling buddies are a bit more extreme, I'm sure I'll go on trails I would want the 37's.
