For those of is who own Sports, do you leave your Sport decal on or have you peeled it off? I'm thinking of peeling mine off once I get the front lockers installed. Or something.
I've changed my decals at least 3 times since I bought mine new in 12.
I now have matte black custom decals (originals were silver) from Pixeldecals on my rig with no sport decals. I never liked the way they did the oem sport decal on the Jk so it was replaced by a Jeep decal above the Wrangler which is now also long gone since I'm doing the matte black on shiny black theme. I just installed this round of decals a few days ago and I still haven't gotten around to taking a pic.
I like the cleaner look; other's opinion will vary.
I have a Silver 16 JKRHR, removed all the decals (Rubicon, Wrangler, dealer name on the rear), trail rated badge, and the chrome Jeep emblem on the grill. Drove directly home from the dealer and these were my first mods on the day I purchased.
The seats are embroidered with Rubicon, the tachometer says Rubicon, front bumper says Rubicon, rear bumper says Jeep and so do the wheel center caps; still plenty of emblems remaining to remind me what kind of vehicle it is.
The people who that would confuse have the same critical thinking skills as the people who believe the official 9/11 story. And probably still a lot less naive and gullible.
One of the first things I did was to remove the Wrangler and Sport decals. Of course you'll lose 5-6hp, but you will pick that back up when you add your custom decals.
I've only removed the Trail Rated badge so far. It's a Wrangler, of course it's trail rated. I'd actually consider removing the Wrangler Unlimited decal for a Willys Overland logo decal.
Mine was born a sport but very quickly changed into something else. The trail rated badge remains (as stated to keep that capability ) everything else has been washed away.
I just removed the big SPORT sticker but left Wangler and Unlimited for now. The sport sticker didn't match and you can tell a have a stripped out Jeep a mile away, no need to brag.
After the first year, I removed the Jeep emblem from the grill, the side Wrangler decals, and even the Rubicon decals from the side hood. Looks much cleaner and classy. IMHO decals makes it look cheap. It's your Jeep, do whatever you like. That's the Jeep owner's spirit!
I can't stand it when the dealership puts their stickers/emblems on. Regardless of the vehicle it's the first thing to go. This poor attempt at advertising doesn't work anyway. I have never known anyone to see a sticker from "Joe's fine preowned auto's" or whoever sold the vehicle and say wow that's a nice ride I better stop by "Joe's" to see what they have.
I peeled off the Sport and Wrangler badges on the first dry day after I got it home. I also removed the Jeep lettering from the grille.
Later, I added "Jeep" lettering to the front fenders where it belongs.
Surprisingly there was no dealer sticker and no dealer license plate frames or those would have been immediately removed as well.
