To those with Orange Crush...is it a ridiculous color for anyone but the young?

Found a very nice 2012 Orange Crush Unlimited with all (most) of the options I need (want). However, just about everyone I show the car too hates the color!

This particular one is a Sahara with brown leather interior. I think it's a nice contrast and stands out, but doesn't look stupid. However most everyone (including the wife) hates it.

Here is the actual car: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...ngId=123185319

How is everyone enjoying their Orange Crush??? Any regrets? Too flashy? Just right? I'm kind of wondering if I'll grow tired of the color after while. Could always get it wrapped or something then I guess. Just looking for opinions.

Thanks!!

BTW....I'm 37 so not really old, but not young either. :-)

I'm 36 and I rock the orange crush, too. I love it, and so does most people that see my Jeep. I get tons of compliments on it. Who cares what others think? If you like it, buy it.

No matter how old you will ever be, there's always a time where you will want a jeep. So it's a young spirit vehicle for whoever. If you like the color, buy it and you won't regret it. Remember is not a Prius or Camry.. A jeep is made to break you from from the ordinary and keep your soul young forever.

If you like it. Get it !!!!!

Detonator Yellow, Gecko, Orange Crush, Dozer, Cosmos Blue. Jeep doesn't shy away from bright colors and they sell to all ages. JK's are on the expensive side so not very much very young can afford them. I know a couple people well into their 30's that have Orange Crush JK's. I don't know what you consider young, but if you like the one you found go for it.

It's the perfect color for deer hunting! I like it, but I'd be on the fence about buying it. It's ALMOST too much. I'm 25 if that helps you at all..

Tell the wife it's safer because people will be able to see you better.

I'm a lot older than you. While I don't want a brightly coloured vehicle myself...I'm also old enough to be comfortable getting what I do like. So if you like it...get it. Unless you're considering a quick resale (in which the colour may matter)...who cares what anyone else thinks?

It's already there...it's not like you're picking out some bizarre colour that no one has ever seen before...lol...

I love it and I'm 48.

Of course you could just get a black jeep. Plenty of those around to blend in with.

I don't have a Crush, but I do think it is a great color. Maybe on my next Jeep.

I ended up with a black Wrangler. If I had bought brand new...I'd have gone with the Commando green...love that colour. Reminds me of watching M*A*S*H with my Dad when I was young...

Now, while I love black...I just wanted a change after 10 years driving a different black SUV...lol...

I've always been kind of dumbfounded why there are certain colors that are not socially acceptable at a specific age. If 9/10's of those people who don't like the color saw a orange Lamborghini driving down the street, how many of them do you think would call it ugly?

Colors don't say anything more about you then what your preference might be. It doesn't describe your character. The only down side of bright colors that I can think of is attention, which can be bad in certain instances (cops).

In short, get the color you want.

IMHO a Wrangler is an iconic vehicle that looks good in just about any color kind of like Corvettes. Nothing wrong with something bold, young or old.

Why are so many inclined to bland colors usually found on Buick/Lexus vehicles? It's a Jeep and was not designed to fit into the crowd, but to stand out

If you want to fit in, you might be better served with a Lexus Rx350.

Well...as far as that goes...how far back in history are we going? I thought they were supposed to be dull coloured for military use. You didn't want them to stand out colour-wise...

And as far as standing out goes in the present day...it seemed we had a Jeep reunion the other day in my usual coffee drive-through. The Toyota Camry was the one standing out...

That is no color for old men. The young
In one another's arms, birds in the trees...

I think the color is fine, but at that price you could buy new, and let the wife help you pick one.

Happy wife, happy life!

Great feedback peeps. As many of you said, part of me wants to say f**k what everyone else thinks. However, if the douche-factor is off the charts then I don't really want that either.

Not too worried about cops as its not a fast car so it's not like I'm doing 100.

As to the price, I actually thought that was a decent price. It's $2k below KBB. Yes if I has the time to order a new one I could get a decent price. However I need one ASAP as I am currently without one. That makes things tough.

Finding a manual with all the options is not easy. If I wanted auto then I'd already have one, but I don't.

Had a used white one picked out but it didn't have side air bags and I pegged that as a must have...right or wrong.

Get it! It's a good looking vehicle. I am 48 and wanted Crush last year when I got mine. My wife didn't like Crush so we ended up with Dozer. Everytime I see a Crush go by I start wishing I got the Crush. Not that Dozer is exactly bland either.

...just wanted to add. I'm an older woman...and for that reason was a tad worried about buying a 2-door - thinking they were primarily the domain of very young men (and the occasional young woman). But then I said 'who cares?'.

The first time I stopped for gas? There I was filling up my Wrangler...and a 16-year young man pulls up beside me...and fills up his family van...

I'm thinking "what's wrong with this picture?" . However...I'm over it now...

The only thing I regret is that my 2014 Rubicon isn't available in crush. Not only do I not have regrets, but the amount of looks and compliments I get on it surpasses the amount I got when I borrowed my friend's Ferrari.

Get it, you won't regret it.

Tried that a few hours before that pic was taken...didn't work

Also, a small hint, if you don't armorall your tires, within a year they will start turning white and stained if you wheel. If you don't wheel, just white. They will also collect mud, and when there is too much, they will fling it straight into your paint in globs. It serves a functional purpose.

And finally, as you can see from the second pic, there is no armorall on the tires, thank photoshop for cleaning them up.

1. Don't listen to other peoples opinions. It's your life!

2. That price is WAY out of line, IMHO. I paid $36,742 for a pretty loaded 2012 Rubicon. That price is likely MORE than the very easily obtainable, 1% under invoice new price of that Jeep! [But, don't listen to me - it's your money and your life....]

Orange is my favorite color...and while Crush was a bit too vivid for me, I was close to getting Dozer. While I like Billet, it does not stand out the way orange does. (See motorcycle in avy....cream and tangerine!)

I think you should get what makes YOU happy.

im not a fan of the orange crush at all. infact everytime i see orange crush, cosmo blue and gecko i look away and say "pffff idiot" i feel these colors are like hair dye. when u dye ur hair orange green or blue, u will look cool for exactly 30 mins then u'll just look like an idiot. but thats just me. maybe if i was 18 i would accept them more. here the dealership sold only 4 gecko last year and the 2 remaining 2012s are being sold for like 3k less cause no one wants to even touch them with a ten foot pole.

Glad to see that anyone with an opinion that differs to yours is an idiot. In the united states of americaland, the crazy colors are the first to fly off the dealer lots. Any dealer lot you look at you see nothing but black, white, and silver.

1. Agreed!

2. I was going to get an in-stock fairly loaded Rubicon from a local dealer (in white) but they wanted $500 over invoice which was over $37k. Price kept escalating and I felt I was being jerked around a bit so I walked. Only problem is that was the ONLY one with the options I want locally. Seems like dealers only have autos these days.

Complicating things is I'm currently without a car. I need to buy one ASAP which probably means I will overspend a tad. I don't have the luxury of ordering unfortunately.

I looked up KBB for the orange crush jeep and they say over $35k so I figured I was getting a decent deal. Used wranglers seem to hold their value fairly well from what I've been seeing.

Also with money I saved from not buying new I can get lift and tires soon(er). So that's a bonus.
