To Trac-Loc or not to Trac-Loc

Getting closer to my purchase. Thanks everyone for all your help. I have decided to seek out a jeep with the 3.73 gears as per everyones recommendations. Now the next option that pops up is Trac-Loc - i am finding many of the 3.73 do not have the Trac-Loc option. How important is having the Trac-Loc. I have never had it on any of my past jeeps. Will I notice a big difference not having or having it. Appreciate your help.

Unless you're going to rip open the differential and install lockers, having a limited slip differential is better than not having it. My recollection is that the factory option is less than $400 or so. If that's correct, it's certainly worth it.

MSRP on the Trac-lock is $295.

Aftermarket would be twice as much to add an LSD.

It's worth it.

TMK they are still using the same old style factory limited slip that they use to and those have a history of wearing out after so manny miles.. Of course if Im wrong and they did change for the JK then by all means correct what I just said..

OP if they are as they use to be.. I would look for one with the open diff and then add a after market limited slip if you so desire one

60k on mine with zero issues. If you're not used to RWD, then definitely get it.

For the <$300 price it's a no brainer. If you can get it, get it.

3.73s are hard enough to find in stock on lots anyway. If youre getting a 3.73 youre going to have to order one and then you can just check off the LSD box too

I like my Trac-Loc. When I even considered a Locker upgrade, I just added the locker to the front and left the rear Trac-Loc

Same here. The price point was too good to pass up.
