I have the 430 cockpit nav thingy. I like the Uconnect incorporating my cell phone into my speaker system more than I thought I would. But, there are times I want to be able to use my regular Bluetooth with my Blackberry (have to have one rather than iPhone, etc .. for work compatibility) in the vehicle at times--particularly when my wife call and someone else is in the vehicle because she might say who knows what about them, etc ... Also, for some reason, when I play my voicemails back, the Uconnect does not pick that up. So, I have to turn my BB speaker phone on and listen to it that way, which not only is a pain, but also allows anyone else in the vehicle to hear it.
When the Jeep is no running, my BB automatically pairs with my Bluetooth thingy. But when the Jeep's running, the Uconnect pairing trumps everything else on the planet. I've tried just turning the 430 unit off when I want to pair with the Bluetooth headset, but that doesn't work--Uconnect still prevents the pairing. And the solution cannot be that I scroll through my phone's connection options to disconnect from Uconnect and connect to the Bluetooth (as I would then likely careen into oncoming traffic).
I aslo cannot figure out if I can change the Uconnect settings by button rather than voice control. I can live with it if I can't, but I hate voice command gadgets and, again, I don't want to be doing that out loud with others in the car.
So, questions:
(1) Is there a simple way when driving to just turn the Uconnect off?
(2) Is there any way to manipulate the Uconnect settings without using voice commands?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice, or even the humorous derision that's likely to follow from tech-savvy people.
