Tomarrow is the big day

Will order a new 2d jk tomorrow. Still up in the air over rubi or sahara! Will a sahara out ride a rubi as I think it has a softer, lesser suspension. Another thing how does a sahara look with both avail chrome packages. And does the new leather look anything like the king ranch ford which I love.

Ugh.. Congrats on getting a 2dr JK.. Not hearing enough of that lately. The sahara shouldn't out ride the rubi but if you don't plan to offroad it then go with the sahara.. The rubi's f/r D44, electric lockers, electric sway bar disconect, better tires, and armor are the diffrence in cost between the two models.. Wont need all that if your not leaving the pavement often..

IMO and most to all will agree As to the chrome.. FORGET ABOUT IT.. Chrome and Jeep is like oil and water... so do yourself a favor and leave the chrome to the hummers and escalades.. Please

congrats on picking up your new jeep... like was said, if you're not planning any offroading go with the sahara. either one is a great choice, it's one of the best things about it! it's awesome no matter how you buy it, cause you're going to wind up changing something...

dont forget to wave!

I agree, I went with a sport so I could save a little $$$, and do what I want to it... I personally like the black top and flares - nice contrast... NO CHROME!!

good luck! - you will love it- either choice,

I bought a 2011 Rubicon 2dr and I absolutely love it!! I agree though, if you aren't going off road then get the sahara. There is just something great about saying I own a Rubicon though.....just saying.

NO CHROME!!!!!

No Rubi's are beasts off road, Sahara's need mods to be beasts get the Rubi & you will have a Jeep that you will be happy with & not have to do any expensive upgrades like I had to. They have a bigger front diff (2 D44's) & if you plan on going off road then they have a better crawl box. Take my word for it & get the Rubi or you will regret it if you go off road much

Yes we all know that Rubis can climb mount st. helens, that my friend is redundant but Saharas are very capable too. No they don't have lockers, sway bars, better gears, and the ability to time travel like a Rubi but they are very capable off road and cost less than the Rubi. This means he can put into it what he wants for what he is going to use it for instead of spending 10K more for features some jeepers buy and then don't use. On that note, he should also consider the Sports for modding and what was mentioned above.

I'm pretty sure you can get leather interior on a Rubi but from one jeeper to another, the leather is only a good idea if your not going off road and getting mud in the cabin hence....you probably don't need a Rubi if leather is important.

Well, if your under 30 years old and are unsure, get the Sahara. You have many more Jeep purchases ahead of you,and it will save you some money.

If your over 30 and money is really not an issue(Sahara-Rubi) then clearly get the Rubicon or Call of Duty. Why??? Because they are better than the Sahara.

This decision is not difficult ,if you recognize that this is one of many Wranglers that you are going to own. This decision is difficult,if you feel this is going to be your first and only Jeep.

Good luck,if you get the Sahara .Im sure your going to love it.

Get the Rubi. You won't regret it.

I often read posts where Sahara owners wish they had bought the Rubi. I have never seen a post where a Rubi owner wished he/she had bought the Sahara instead.

I do know some Rubi owners wish they could have the money from all the power accessories included on their rigs however like (i.e. windows, locks, cruise control, navigation systems..etc) back so that it could have been spent on other mods. Normally you don't wish to not have the lockers and disconnects though.

I traded a 2000 sahara in on a 2003 rubicon...and there was a HUGE difference between the two. And the rubicon came with a 6 disk CD changer the sahara didn't have...difference in INTERIOR the sahara wins-it was really plush, but if you are going to play in the woods...all that nice interior gets dirty fast. And I've put a lot of mods into/onto the rubicon I would never have done on the sahara...just the original axles alone are better on the rubicon for offroading....fo for the rubicon!

Doesn't the Sahara come with all the electronic gadgets too? Personally I'd either go all out with the Rubi, or bare bones with the Sport then modify it. A package like the Sahara just doesn't appeal to me. But to each his own.

not sure if this is helpful or not but i'll tell you what I did.
I got a 2011 unlimited 4x4 with the S package, Auto Trans, and the Trac-Lok limited slip rear differential. The S package has the power windows, locks, etc. but no sirius radio or Ipad dock type stuff. S package also gets you better wheels/tires. If you get an auto trans, 3.73 Rear axle ratio is added on.
I dont really know what has changed in the '11 model other than the interior. It seems that some of the options of previous models are stock now. I know very little about Wranglers, except for what I have found researching online and during the new Jeep buying process. Thats why I joined this forum. To learn something, and to be barraged by jokes at my expense. HTH.

A sahara it will be. Desert tan with dark saddle interior in leather. 2 door like a real jeep should be, not a 4 door soccer mom grocery getter. Auto with 373 trac loc, body color 3 peice hard top, heated seats and power and heated mirrors. Nav and connectivity group, engine heater, remote start, and ac with auto temp controls. Also smokers group, no i don't smoke, trailer tow group and front seat mounted side air bags. And i know i will get flamed for this but i ordered not one but both the chrome edition group by mopar and the premium chrome group by mopar. The only box i didn't check was the duel top option as i would never use the soft top. Total msrp was $35575 and dealer sold it to me a little under invoice, $100 (they say) at $33,100. This is my first jeep and i will be 56 this month. Not my first 4x4 as i have 8 ford 4x trucks and suvs. Oh and one on the way as the day before i ordered this jeep i ordered a 11 explorer for the wife at the same dealership which sells ford, toyo, dodge, ram and jeep. Got a better deal on the ford as they have cash incentives on 2011s and jeep has nothing. It will be interesting to see which one shows up first. My money is on the jeep as i ordered a 10 sporttrac last june and it took over 10 weeks to come in. Not much more then this little jeep and has everything and 295 hp v8 and 6 SPEED auto, (are u listening jeep)!! I thought 4 speed autos went the way of the 2 speed dynaglide in my dads 1955 buick. Oh by the way the new explorer has a 290 HP 3.5 V 6 and a 6 speed slectshift auto. (are u listening again jeep) Everybody have a happy new year and thanks for all the good info.

Congratulations! Don't forget to wave!

One of these days try taking the Ford the same places your Wrangler will take you..... then you'll see why Jeep does things the way they do....

"2 door like a real jeep should be, not a 4 door soccer mom grocery getter"
I guess I have the grocery getter. As I have found out in the diesel truck forums most people don"t know what their talking about. I personally think any 4 Wheeling under 20 mph is boring. Real 4 wheeling is the Baja 1000. Axel lock useless there. Thing your jeep can keep up with my truck? My point, it's all what you want one is not really better than the other.

If i wanted to go fast over rough terrain i would of bought a raptor, which i test drove last month. And they even come in the 4 door grocery getter style which is what i would have bought. I bought a jeep instead as i really don't need another pickup. Oh by the way i think a raptor can keep up with you no problem at all, and it won't throw you through the roof like a 8 bolt dodge.

Really? You do realize there are a lot of 4 door owners on this forum, right? Not a very good way to start out as a new member by making fun of other jeepers or by thinking yours is better.

There are a few things about your new jeep that I think is but that's not what we do here.

Not real 4 wheeling, just a different type. In fact they have some classes of the Baja 1000 that are not 4x4 at all.

Perhaps traditional would have been a better way to say this. I prefer the 2 door as well for the more traditional look and less chance of high centering on obstacles due to the shorter wheel base.

I never meant to offend anyone. I almost ordered the 4 door myself but since we have 2 explorer 4 doors, plus one on order and a sporttrac 4 door and expedition 4 door and king ranch F 350 4 door in the family. I wanted something different and smaller. Just for a toy or hobby car. It was all said in jest or with sarcasm. I may buy a 4 door latter, who knows. 2 or 4 door my jeep is no better then anyones and i never meant to imply that. They just are made for different applications. I ordered a new explorer the day before the jeep and OMG it is a 4 door. Even if ford still made the 2 door explorer i would of gotten the 4 door for this application. If jeep would build a 2 door wrangler pickup i would of opted for that instead, but who knows if or when that will ever happen. My first and only mopar was a 64 dodge wagon with a 318 2 barrel and a push button auto on the dash. $350 car i drove for 5 years to work as that was all i could afford. With the 2 other 2 door ford trucks i own i will have 9 ford 4X4 vehicles, 1 2008 corvette (another play car) and a JK 2 door jeep. The jeep will be in fine company and may very well be my favorite and even made my daily driver.

Whats all this talk about the sahara being a bad choice if you plan on going off road... Ya it wouldnt be anywhere near as good as a rubi for rock crawling, but its more than capable off road, it'll tackle 90% of what the rubi does... (gotta have the right tires of course)**... Ive got an 07 sahara 2dr.. No Lift or any major mods, i do have the 32"rubi rims and tires along with the 4.10 gears tho, anyway My buddy has a rubi, we head off road all the time n theres nothing he has gone threw that i havent been able to.. Yet... Remember rock crawling is only a very very very small part of off roading and what the wrangler in general can do... N ya the couple options of the rubi are nice like the disc. Sway bar button n the diffs.... But i like my power convience group n my remote start as well...

40 yrs ago a farmer would never believe that a pickup would have 4 doors, hell he would tell you that is a station wagon! Now look at pickups hard to find a 2 Door on the dealers lot!

I wanted the 2 door as to my preference in liking the look over the 4 door, yes the 2 door Wrangler looks more in touch as the original Jeep design, but i would never bad talk a 4 door wrangler as there are a few things I am sure it can do better then the 2 door with the longer wheel base, yes the 2 door can get you places that the longer 4 door cant. The 4 door gives the chance of owning a wrangler that still needs the room and 4 doors say in regards to having kids to haul and any 2 door owner will tell you the back seat is for the dog to lay on in the garage so he don't have to lay on the cold garage floor!

My Jeep is silver, I like silver and it was my choice, others may have chosen blue or red or pink, what I'm saying is never say somebody made the wrong choice, you made your choice for your reasons, and they made their choice, calling a 4 door Wrangler a grocery getter, well I have seen some bad a$$ grocery getter's!

You want a real JEEP, find a 1948 and restore it then drive it to the store and get some groceries!

Find the road that ends,,,then the fun starts!!!!!!!

You wouldn't be on DTX would you? I feel like I've seen that truck before. More specifically that truck destroying 2-4 feet of snow lol.
