Took one in the rear.

Got rear ended two days ago. :-( She was only 7 weeks old. Waiting to hear from their insurance on what the damage is. I was gonna order wheels and tires and Truck-Lites this week too. Argh!

Anybody think there's any chance she'll get totaled? I really don't want it back, no matter how well they fix it. I want a fresh start.

Glad you're OK! I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I opened this thread!

How fast was the other driver going? That's some pretty serious damage!

Thanks guys!

The cop said the guy was going 60... I was going 20ish but I don't remember for sure. I was stopping for traffic ahead. He spun me around so I ended up rearending another car with my back end. Never saw it coming.

Got a sore neck, hematoma on my noggin and split my chin on something which got 7 stitches.

Was heading to a work meeting so luckily I have the stitches to prove I wasn't trying to ditch it. Lol

Think that's a pretty safe bet. Looks like half the car would have to be replaced! Sad to see such a young Jeep go thru that, and glad the OP is OK...maybe even a cool scar!

Good to know you're OK and no one was in the back seat.

If there really was a 40 MPH your Jeep held up quite well. The trunk would have ended up in back seat with any car.

If the frame is OK that's a good project vehicle. The insurance will write it off.

Glad you're OK!

The Jeep can be replaced, but not you. From the looks of it, I'll agree with everyone that she's a goner but on the bright side, it did it's job protecting you!

Glad you are Ok. I have to agree with most, totaled. If not, I would not want it fixed. Vehicles with that much damage never run right afterwards. Seems to always have handling issues.

Its totaled, and if it isn't, have them fix it and give you diminished value. Then get rid of it right away, you definitely don't want it back.

Glad your Jeep gave itself up for you, could have been really bad, but it can be replaced, you can't.

Enjoy your new rig, you deserve it.

Glad to hear you're ok! Sucks that this had to happen with her only being 7 weeks old. I have to agree with the others, very likely a write off.

The body is crumpled, the frame is most likely tweaked, and there is way too much work needed to fix it - I'd bet the front clip of the body, the engine, the front axle, and the interior are the only things that aren't damaged - and there might be some issue witht he drivetrain that isn't known.

If they don't total it, get the diminished value and trade it like everyone above me said. To put things in perspective perhaps - this was my 2005 Wrangler after it caught a concrete retaining wall at an angle on an icy highway, I was cut off by a pickup trying to merge onto the highway in a construction zone and ended up sliding into the wall at about 150 degree angle.

It didn't blow the airbags, I walked away with a skinned shin from where my leg hit the bottom of the dash when I hit the wall. The upper control arms bent, the track bar, tie rods, etc. bent. The bumper split open on a welded seam and the driver's side D-ring was pushed through the back of the bumper and into the frame crossmember.

The insurance guy was really optimistic about it being fixable, and he was a really nice guy too. We picked over the damaged areas and he wrote everything up. I asked him if I could apply the money towards aftermarket parts for the repairs, like some front steel flat fenders instead of the stock ones, and he said he didn't have a problem with it as long as it was repaired properly in the end.

The kicker - if the frame was tweaked it would push the amount into the 'totaled' section - if the frame was ok, repairs could begin. The d-ring that pushed through the bumper was pushed into the center frame section and that corner was tweaked. They totaled it. I bought it back, and sold it locally to be built as a buggy.

The rope dangling of the d-rings on the front bumper were ribbons my daughter put on for a Christmas parade that was later that week.

Do not sign off on any settlement that includes medical until you have been throughly checked out. Injuries from this type of accident can take months to show up and could last the rest of your life. There is nothing worse than constant neck and back pain. Glad to hear your are ok.
