Top off and a rain storm

I remember pulling the top off of my 97 and not putting it back on till winter. Can you do this with the new JK's? I worry about all the radio and cruse stuff. How well will this stand up? Just need a few tips please.

Some guys will say "it's a Jeep they can take it". I call BS on that one...the JK is the most electronically advanced wrangler ever made. It is not water proof or even water resistant.

No different than a TJ IMO.

I would never buy/have installed an expensive head unit in my jeep. Have a smart phone for NAV duties.
Infernogirl--a member here--makes custom covers for the TJ, to protect the steering internals (clockspring). I am not sure if a JK cover has been made yet. Pull the carpets/plugs and bedline. Good to go

I've gotten caught in the rain manny times with absolutely no issues, well other than being wet and cold.

I think people have mentioned the clockspring in the steering wheel is the biggest issue you can have with getting caught in the rain. I think infernogirl makes a cover for the jk, but it covers the whole steering wheel so I don't think you can drive with it on. My personal plan is just going to be a trash bag kept behind the drivers seat, and an emergency top. And some short shorts, because nothing says sexy like a man driving topless in the rain with booty shorts.

mmmm booty shorts

I've driven in the rain topless/doorless a few times as well, including two hours on the highway in heavy rain. No problems so far, but who knows, I could just be pushing my luck.

Pull the carpets and drain plugs afterwards, and let it dry in the sun for a few hours, and it's all good.
