Top Wheels and tires that perform and look great?

That's a bit of a loaded question, But I am nevertheless curious to see you're opinions.

My wife wants to get a jeep next year and has been contemplating if she'd want aftermarket wheels and tires. She'll only be doing city and highway driving, no lift or any other major changes.

We have very hot summers (35-40c), and unimaginably cold winters (-50c) at their extremes, respectively. So we need something that can handle the heat, yet can plow through 4 feet of snow some days.

A semi-aggressive look is preferred, but functionality is the key proponent. As for the wheels, she's mainly looking for something that is inexpensive, but doesn't look it (without also looking too flashy.

Just for more details, lets stick with 17-18" wheels and between 32-33" tires.

17-18? Well, that excludes my 15" Level 8's but I go with 33x12.50 Duratracs.

I love the look of my Rugged Ridge wheels with rock rims. I wanted the spyderlock look but didn't want to spend 500 a wheel so I went with the RR's and am glad I did. I'd check them out. I was going back and forth on tires and am SO glad I went with the Duratracs. Great tire. I drove 18 hours to and from Colorado and had some offroad fun and they performed amazingly.

15" wheels are going to be much lighter and perform much better on the road, particularly with acceleration. Keep in mind you'll need to keep an eye on the air pressure more with 15" wheels and a 33" tire (for the road), or get a higher load-rated tire (a heavier tire) for your 15" wheels.

I'd like to get 15" beadlocks as a compromise between weight and quality/function, but they're much heavier than non-beadlock 15"s, so my plan is just stick with 15" wheels and 33" tires. Plenty of wheels have a "simulated" beadlock look though, if those aesthetics work for you.

I'd say Duratracs, Cooper ST Maxx, BFG KM2, Kelly Safari TSR, Fierce Attitude MT, the Toyo brand that people like; then for wheels whatever you like. Why get wheels that everyone else has? Check out what wheels DTD has. They have an app where you can see what the wheels would look like on a Wrangler.

another vote for duratracs, I loved my 33x12.5r15's... They are are very versatile tire and do VERY well in the winter. The wider tires did make it wonder a bit more than stock but they were very close in weight to my stock 32" wrangler st's on 17" rims

IMHO.....stick with the stock tire/wheel combo and get another set of wheels and throw on some serious snow tires for the winter driving.
I know it's "boring" and just downright "plain", but functionality trumps looks when performance is the key.
And when winter comes.......your Jeep needs to perform.
