Went topless last weekend...long overdue..had nowhere to store the hard top...did anyone else had a bear of a time getting a new soft top to fit?

I put on the ORH fastback a month ago and it was a pain to install the first time. But after the initial install and not removing it for a week - its a lot easier after that. It takes me no time to remove the top or put it back on.

The soft top is always a pain in the azz until it gets stretched out. It's easiest if you leave it out in the sun so the material warms up and stretches more easily. Once you take it up/down a few times, it will be cake afterwards!!

Did you take your doors off? I took my doors off for the first time 3 weeks ago. Needless to say, they haven't been back on since!! My Jeep isn't my daily driver so she sits in the garage till I can take her out. It's a totally different feeling going topless with the doors off!! I suggest trying that too, you'll love it!!

I second that - I took mine off for the first time this past weekend and it was awesome. To bad its my DD and where I park for work isnt the best area or they would be off most of the time

Thanks guys! I finally broke down and took it to a dealer this morning to get the front to close (thurnderstorms all week and didn't want to wrestle withe the tarp again like last night). 3 grown men wrestled with it for half hr and its all done. I had no chance on my own.
Can't wait to take the doors off..maybe this weekend.
Need a boyfriend with a garage! haha

Unzip the Rear Window

When mine was new, the only way to get those front clips to attach was to unzip the rear window and unhook the sail panels. After a couple of weeks though the top was all stretched out and I didn't have to do that anymore!

I second that. My first time was last weekend, Friday to Saturday.

My biggest problem is that I store my hardtop 10 minutes away from my apartment and do not own an emergency top. I have been researching soft/emergency tops for some time now. I am lean towards plain old blue tarping with extension poles to wait the storm out. At least I'll be dry AND can breath/see things than with a cover.

Leave the top on to stretch out, but take the doors off and the windows out. It still gives you that open feeling. It was 90-92 here last weekend and sunny, so I put my soft top up and kept the doors off and windows out and it was nice!

First time is ALWAYS really hard.

Make sure the front latches are ALL the way open (it gives you another inch or two), and try sliding the front passanger seat a the way forward while making the seat-back straight up (for more leverage).
