the best thing to do is ignore him until he actually buys a Wrangler. I was just thinking, one of the reason I got so wet on the way home was probably due to the slug under my hood. If only I could have driven faster than the rain!

Nice story Tom, sorry you soaked the inside of your rig. I've been extremely careful so far (and extremely lucky) so it hasn't happened to me yet.

You are almost correct. Clearly you haven't seen the press conferences with Fiat. If you had a pentagrail, Neo would come out of the Matrix and bend the raindrops around you.

Had a similar situation the first week I owned my wrangler, I was driving down the east coast and around north Carolina got caught in a rain storm. I guess my moisture sensor failed because the top didn't deploy. Since then though I got raptor liner. I hear it scares the rain into other convertibles.

Tom: I scan thru threads looking for things to chime in on.

And, thanks to head injuries and college, my memory sucks.

So for about the fifth time since you started this thread, I've read "total soft top failure" and said to myself "crap, better wade into this one...."

As a result, I now wish this upon you:
May tomorrow morning, you find 37 of these little buggers feasting on your scrotal area:

Oh, and happy 4th!

so the auto-boot-chute-with-deploying-top didn't work? I'd be pissed, too! Write a letter! Write a letter! What's wrong with these (%&*^(&^(&^%$$#@#$ customer service people anyway?

Happy Fourth!

daggo, you are a smart guy and you have probably already thought about this. In case you have not, I recommend a few of these in the floor board to take care of the algea.

I hope you realize that you have given me no other option to not only continually bring this thread to the top, but to find new and more creative ways to torture you until you agree to bring Britta to the PA Jeeps All Breed Jeep Show on the 16th.

I decided that daggo's research findings on soft top failure required more data, to provide a better sample population.

I can confirm, that when the soft top is put through the same set of sample data, it will in fact, completely fail.

Confirmed Sunday morning.

Ok, so this is two confirmed cases of soft top failures in one week? Does anyone here think that is even reomtely possible? This certainly sounds like a design flaw. The good news is, if you want to take it to court, all you have to do is hire Casey Anthony's attorneys...if they can get you off of a 1st degree murder charge, just think of what they could do for a simple soft top failure issue...

Hmmm, you may have a point. It's no wackier than suing for spilled hot coffee. I did get a little wet. My pants were wet and that did cause me some discomfort.

Not only was I wet, but I had to endure the humiliation and chastising from my spouse. Oh the emotional pain! I am calling the hurt line right now, and I'm telling Chrysler I mean business!

My only issue is going to be my principle witness. My teenage daughter was with me and loved every minute of it. Of course I'm sure her testimony is for sale.

Hmmm. It sounds like she was cheerful and in a good mood. Aren't teenaged girls supposed to be moody , irritable and down right bit**y? I know mine is. She obviously suffered severe psychological damage from this. Move the decimal point for the settlement further to the right.

I'm smelling a class action lawsuit. Had 2nd game of double header rained out yesterday. I know I've been saying that I never had a hardtop leak, but starting to second guess myself. First heavy rain of the season and I casually walk to the Jeep. I open the back to toss my bag in, unlock the front and get in. I start looking around and my dash, driver seat, and whole driver door is covered in water. I immediately think of this thread thinking how this has happened to me. After all, my top was on and everything screwed down tight. I then stopped "thinking" and closed the door... leak fixed. No warning labels for this stuff?

Every time I sit in the drivers seat I am faced with a couple dozen warning stickers, "Don't do this..." and "Don't do that...". Upon discovering Daggo's plight I set out to actually read these warning stickers and NOT ONE says anything about utilizing the top to thwart rain.
I would suggest either suing Fiat or wearing a hat.

I'm cross-pollinating threads here (is that even legal?), but Daggo - here is your solution.

I believe it is, but rarely enforced, at least in the mountains anyway.

The way I understand it, they don't enforce much in those mountains...

Will it sense the rain and automatically deploy?

Alas, I think not. I have failed to find a solution for your problem. Perhaps the 2012...
