tough choice....

so i called DTD today, ready to place a significant dent in my wallet but....

it seems not so long ago i had about 50 different wheels i couldn't decide on. then last night, just looking, reading, and reviewing some of your profile pictures i made up my mind. finally. i'm ready to make my commitment and buy.... success! not so fast there slick!

okay so i called looking to pick up some Level 8 Trackers (16x8.5s) and i planned to wrap these puppies in Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 315/75 R16s...

well there's the crux of my situation. DTD doesn't have any Level 8 Trackers... not the size i'm looking for.

i will say this. the rep who helped me, was awesome. i think he sensed my dissappointment. so he tried to church up a deal for me....

he threw together a deal with Level 8 ZXs (the all matte black ones) ($1999 out the door) with the same tires, threw in some TPMS for the set of five, and gave me a pretty sweet deal... now i don't know what to do... i'm leaning towards taking him up on the offer (he indicated the Trackers might not be available for some time) and my JK looks a bit silly with a 4" BDS lift with stock Mountain wheels and tires..

what do you guys think... am i gonna regret settling, i wonder, the more i look at the ZXs the more i'm okay with them... but....

Level 8 Tracker:

Level 8 ZX:

This is really a personal question of course. There's no "right" answer.

That said, my two cents is that these were both on my short list, and I'd be happy either way. If I was offered a better deal on the ZXs than I would've been able to get on the Trackers, I would've picked up the ZXs and been happy about it.

I think the ZX wheels are a damn sexy wheel, especially with the optional rock guard. I even like them a bit more than the Tracker myself. But, wheel choice is very personal. So go with your gut.

I went as far as to order the 15" Trackers and Duratracs, but then changed my mind at the 11th hour and went with 16" Strike 5s. Very happy with my decision.

That $1999 price he gave you is pretty darn good for that setup too. Make sure you join treadlightly.org for $25 so you can take advantage of the $100 mail in rebate on the Duratracs.

I went a different route and went with the Blackrock Vipers. Fell in love with them and nothing else would do. Got them yesterday and LOVE them. It's a tough choice and you have to live with them. Good luck. I do like the ZX. I just didn't want to go with the all black look. Here is a bad picture of mine.

I got the 72's Tabber, I will post some pic's up for you too, so hopefully you don't have regret. They are pretty close to the trackers, although I want to change out the center hub.

i went with the ZXs... i guess it just took the Texas warehouse a little bit to build the set and throw them on the UPS truck...

i'm looking forward to it. something different than i had originally wanted.. but i the more i looked at the ZXs the happier i was about the decision. plus a meaty set of Duratrac (315/75 r16) never hurt anything!

Nice!

I definitely like the ZX's better than the Trackers. Now, moving on to bumpers...

Have you checked out Pro Comps 16" alloys? If your not sold on the level 8s in either variation, here is a pic of my neighbors 305/70/16 Duratracs on them.

ain't that the truth. just for kicks i tried to throw the new wheel on the stock carrier. it wont even fit. it hits the bumper. i suppose that's someone's way of making sure i don't screwup my hinges!
