Installing a tow harness on JKU. The instructions say to disconnect negative battery terminal first. All the videos I've seen do not mention this. Anyone know if it's necessary to disconnect the terminal?
Such is a standard safety instruction, whenever you working on anything electrical. This way you can't successfully sue them if you majorly short out your electric system and your Jeep bursts into flames.
If you follow it, really depends if you're the type who wears safety shoes and a hardhat when you work on your Jeep, too.
I just installed my hitch and wiring this weekend, and when I saw the instruction to disconnect the negative terminal it did cause me to pause...for a brief moment.
I decided to throw caution to the wind, crossed my fingers and toes, and went forward with the install without the disconnect step.
Nothing bad happened. No fires or explosions, and everything in my Jeep including the new wiring works just fine.
