Tow Hitch

I am looking for info about tow hitches for a 2013 2 door JK. I have looked at amazon and quadratec, but am still not sold on any one hitch. If you have info on which hitch to buy (brand) and where to buy it. Mahalos

I just ordered one from Amazon, the Rugged Ridge, which seemed to get great reviews. I don't need it to town anything, but I have bikes, kayaks and a Bubba keg grill, and this product seems like it'll fit my needs nicely.

It was only $50. Rugged Ridge 11580.10 Rear Hitch : Amazon.com : Automotive

At the end of the day, they really are pretty much the same. The hidden hitch sticks out a little farther which can be nice for cargo baskets, but doesn't affect actual towing abilities at all. I think I have rugged ridge. I bought it cuz it was cheaper. So far its still good. The paint is still holding well so that's good

I have one that is brand new IN THE BOX and has the wiring harness too! $80.00 and you pick up or pay for shipping.

The Rugged Ridge 11580.10 Rear Hitch DOES NOT fit the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2dr.

I have the JKU and bought the Quadratec Premium 2" Hitch.
Quadratec Premium 2" Receiver Hitch with Wiring Kit & Jeep® Logo Plug for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

I installed it this past weekend. I was debating between it and the Rugged Ridge, and since they were the same price, opted for the Quadratec one since it also came with a rubber Jeep cover and the wiring kit. It doesn't stick out, maybe a couple of inches past the bumper.

Haven't really used it yet, but it looks nice.

I've got the one from quadratec. Works great. I frequently pull a 12' trailer either loaded with a riding lawn mower or a couple of quads. I leave my received in all the time just in case I get rear ended AGAIN!

I got the one from Q-tec because it was a bit shorter and I didn't want to ever hit my shins.

Whoa whoa whoa. Really? Does it fit 2012s? Why doesn't it fit?

Sorry for the 20 questions.

I also got the one from Quadratec with the wiring harness and cover for my 13 JKU Sahara. Use it for a 5x8 mesh trailer, bike carrier, or cargo platform. Quick and easy install and wiring harness had the push through clips in all the right places to match up with existing holes in the body. Everything is secure and out of the way.

Yes, it will fit the 2012. Bolts are just a little different. I just wonder why no one googles anymore.

Well that's slightly disappointing. I was just about to order one.

The 11580.51 is the one for 2013's. It's about the same price as the other without the wiring harness.

Good to know. Hopefully the local shop carries that one.

Thanks!

Yeah, I was impressed with the wiring kit / cable / harness /whatever-you-wanna-call-it. It was literally plug it in and be done. The simplest wiring job I've ever done. I was very impressed with the attached pins that use the existing little holes in the frame to snap the cable in place. Tucked out of the way and not touching anything. I likey!

The Rugged Ridge is all you need. $55 on Amazon and it comes with the harness. I have used mine quite a bit and it still looks new.

Nothing like up-to-date information. It has gone up in the past couple months I guess.

The box states 07-13 JK

Before I ordered it, I filled in the vehicle info on Amazon to make sure it was for my vehicle.

I am picking the car back up today from Dealership after getting the roof sealed properly and the kicker speakers installed, I'll try to figure this out then. I can't believe they'd sell it with that on the box!

Since no one has mentioned the CURT MANUFACTURING hitch, I will throw in the one I put on my jeep. Got it from Amazon, 5 stars, Made in USA, Class III, $90
Hitch: Amazon.com: Curt Manufacturing 13432 Class III Receiver: Automotive

Wiring: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Instructions says that you do not need to remove rear bumper, but I found it much easier after I did. It takes less than five minutes to remove the bumper, and one of the pre-drilled holes on my jeep was smaller than the other 3, so with the bumper off, I took my drill and enlarged it enough to get the bolt through. Wiring was extremely easy.

11580.10 hitch
11580.51 hitch + harness
11580.52 hitch + harness + jeep rubber hitch cover

I purchased the 11580.52 and installed on my 10a yesterday. Installs as if factory.

I have a 2 Door JK with 3.73 and want to order both a hitch and a basket. I am interested in the Hidden Hitch receiver from Quadratec but wondered if I need a Class III for a basket--either from Harbor Freight or Quadratec? There is a note on the Hidden Hitch basket from Quadratec (Item #12033.11) for Universal Fit that states: "Our experts recommend the Hidden Hitch Class III receiver...."

Agree?

Amazon just switched it to reflect that it doesn't fit 2013 models... but it doesn't make any sense since the actual description and the BOX says it does.

I'm curious to hear if it fits yours Bucky.
