Tow with a base sport?

Looking at the 2012 sport. Can it pull a small uhaul with an aftermarket hitch, or do I need the "tow package." I don't plan to tow on a regular basis, just when I move from time to time. The sales people seem to know less about Jeeps than anyone. Thanks.

A 2 door will need 3.73 gears to be rated at 2k. It's only rated at 1k with 3:21. You are better off just getting the tow package. You should be aware that UHaul will not rent a trailer to a Wrangler with a soft top.

2dr with 3.21 gears is #1000lbs.
3.73 #2000lbs.

4dr 3.21 #2000lbs.
3.73 #3500lbs.

Ditto on the hard top. The last time I had to rent a trailer from U-hual they made a massive deal out of if I had a hard top or not. That was with my old JKU.

Interesting. What's the reasoning on not renting to a soft top?

I have no idea, but that appears to be UHaul's policy.
