So yesterday I got my TF 2.5" lift installed, looks and drives great! I was planning on getting 35"s and new wheels installed this afternoon.

Today I find out I will need to travel tomorrow from MD to NJ and tow a trailer the entire time. The trailer weight will be right around the maximum of 3500lbs.

My question: I have ordered a procal but won't have until Wednesday, if I go through with the plan to put wheels/ 35" tires on it today will I be okay for the towing tomorrow (shift points/braking/safety main concern) Or should I wait until Wednesday to get the tires/wheels installed? (I know its only a few days apart but I really want them now).

FYI: 2011 Jeep Rubican Unlimited, 4.10 gears, 2.5" lift. Currently stock wheels/tires.

if its an auto it will shift like crap. speedo will be off but thats not a big deal as you could use a gps to keep track of speed. You will have more power with your factory wheels for towing so I would do the trip without the 35's

I'd put the 35's on. Your trailer has brakes right? So stopping won't be a big difference between the two tires. Acceleration will be a little less and your speedo will read about 10% low with the larger tires. But you're going to be taking it easy and not push your jeep too hard. Should be okay although overdrive gears might be painful but unless you abuse the throttle you will be fine.

Good call on running the stock rubber. Your trans will thank you for it. Not worth the extra wear and tear if you can wait a extra couple days.

I have a 2014 JKUR with 4.10's and stock tires with 2" lift. I tow a 19 foot Duckwater hunting boat (3750 lbs) and she tows like a dream. The 35's go on in the spring. Will be interesting to see how she tows then.
