TPMS Frequency change. Am I late to the party?

Just got off the phone with DTD trying to order Level 8 Trackers and 33" Duratracs.

The dude asked for my VIN because apparently somewhere along the path, Jeep changed the Mhz(frequency) that the TPMS uses.

I was planning to have the dealer swap the sensors, but it is worth a few $$ more to have them pre-installed, and not to have to make an appointment at the dealer.

Just a heads-up, and wondering if anyone else heard this little tidbit?

First I've heard of it.

Good to know.

Take the money you'd spend on the sensors and buy a procal to turn off the TPMS. You're going to run a much lower tire pressure with the duratracs anyway, so you'd have to order the procal and modify the TPMS value regardless. Or pay the dealer a ridiculous fee to do it.

Yes, sometime during the '11 model year, Jeep changed the frequency the TPMS receives/transmits on from 433mHz to 315mHz. This hit me as a surprise and DTD as a surprise as the sensors they shipped with order after Christmas contained the 433mHz sensors.

That section of the 400Mhz band is pretty crowded nowadays, maybe there was interference or something.

315mhz is pretty open, it's the same frequency as garage doors, and some car doors

Dealer wants $100 to do the swap, but I'm fairly sure that doesnt include re-mounting, balancing, and valve stems on the stockers.

DTD wants $40ea installed.(not 100% sure thats correct)
Plus I get the benefit of having a complete set of gear ready to rock if the need should arise.

I am going with the ProCal either way for that feature, plus the many other features it has.

So wait...
You are saying that by some random cosmic alignment, someones garage door opener could potentially trigger a TPMS warning somewhere?
No wonder folks are jumping from bridges trying to diagnose problems! haha
