So I am wanting to take the doors off but leave the top on (no garage so cant really put the top anywhere...) and I am going to use a tarp that I got on extreme terrain during the nights...I may be alittle paranoid so I am going to get your all's opinion. Should I get like a gps tracker device and put it in my Jeep? I am afraid it might get stolen? lol...which I mean I am not near like Mexico or anything haha, but what do you all think?

Trackers are fabulous. Tie it to your phone. Make sure it records the route/stops etc. I always shift my transfer case into neutral when I travel. Might be just enough to discourage anyone who starts it.

Haha, nice! Im just thinking with me taking the doors off, anyone can come and hot wire it or something and I would be up the creek. So, if I put a tracking device on it, I can locate it and the police can go catch the thieves! Do you know a good brand of tracking device thing? Also, where exactly would I put it in my jeep?

You know this isn't a 1983 pickup truck? You can't just "hot wire it" or jam a screw driver in the steering column. If someone wants your jeep, their either coming with a tow truck, or a boat load of electronics and a lot of time. In either case, the doors being locked are meaningless.

I'd be more concerned about things being stolen than the actual jeep

Past couple years i've run 100+ days topless/doorless and on track for this year. I don't leave valuables in the Jeep at anytime, I leave my console and glove box unlocked. Never had anyone take anything. Worst has been some punk leaking a drink cup on the front seat at the movies. I am cautious where I park, making sure it's visible.

The GPS Tracker does nothing to discourage theft. It just gives huge satisfaction knowing the cops are parking outside the garage the thief thought he hid it in. It would be tempting to invite a few friends and let the cops sleep.

I actually started a similar threat last week looking for some peace of mind about having the top/doors off and not having a garage. I basically just got confirmation about how I already felt and what people have already said here if someone wants it bad enough they can basically take it what you have to track or stop them, I'll agree that's what insurance is for. Your better off just making sure nothing gets taken out and/or messed up inside. I just leave everything unlocked and nothing in it, ei center console/glove box - IMO a locked box makes people wonder whats inside and all someone really needs is a solid crow bar and they can mess things up pretty bad and get inside.

More on topic the tracker would provide more peace or mind.
