trailer hitch

hello, i have a 2010 2dr 6spd jk and i need a hitch. ive seen a few different options ranging in price from about 70.00 to 180.00. just wondering what the difference might be and which one i should go with? i have 20ft ski boat that i take about a half mile from the garage to the water and back, so it wont be for serious towing. thanks!

that is the one i was leaning towards, for no real reason other than that would be the stock one......however, that is also the most expensive one.....does anyone have a different one? is there any major difference? the pictures on quadratec all look similar.....any suggestions for a wiring harness? thanks!

I believe the mopar is just a rebadged product and your paying for the name. any of the other brands, as long as they have a towing rating would be fine. Most are rated to pull 3500lbs.

As for the wiring harness. You can go into a auto store and pick one up that ties into your tail light harness with a 'T' connector. Though I speak from doing this on a TJ I am sure a JK won't be much different. You may have to remove the tail light, I did but only because I switched to round LED's.

You may need to get a brake controller. Check your trailer if it has brakes, I am betting it does. Means you need to get a round 7-pin wiring harness and brake controller.

Just checked out the official jeep store and found that they sell the harness for pretty cheap $39 for the 4 way, and $41 for the 7 pin round.(Wait scratch that it is $40 extra for the round one and you will probably need to get the ECM scanned at the dealer to activate the braking control)
