Can the tire pressure sensors on the OEM 16" steelies with the Connectivity Group on a 2015 be transferred to aftermarket wheels? How do I go about either removing and transferring the sensors or do I have to get new? If I need to get new, how do I link them to my computer?
Pardon my ignorance, but are they inside the tire?
So I would have to demount the tires, transfer the sensors to the new wheels, and then remount tires on the new wheels?
I would leave the factory tires and wheels as is, and buy a new set of sensors for the new wheelset. That way you wouldn't have to pay twice to install two sets of tires (remounting the factory tires plus installing new tires).
Much easier than swapping them out and likely less money unless the shop putting on the new wheels is willing to do it for free. Plus the old ones will sell better already balanced with the sensors in place. Just my $.02.
You can do as above because its easier but if you don't want to buy new ones just have the shop change them. I sold my 2013's tires to one guy and my rims to another. The guy who bought my rims doesn't have a 2013 so he didn't need the tpms. Why spend 60 bucks more if you don't have to?
That's outrageous. You don't even have to dismount the tire completely to remove the sensors. Deflate, break the bead, push the tire down with the changer arm, remove the sensor and air it back up. Shouldn't even need rebalancing. Find a shop that will do it for free.
