Thanks

I should have specified I was thinking more along the lines of a semi-permanent rack.

I know there is a manufacturer of such a rack that goes above the soft top and bolts down around the tail lights but that was for the TJ. I've always carried my canoe resting on a safari top using the front windshield and roll bars to support the weight of the canoe. If you dont have a safari top yet then you of course want to get some foam pads under the gunwales to protect your new jeep- top down only (not enough framing to the soft top for canoe support). I've always tied down the bow and stern to the bumper or tow hooks and then (very important) lash the canoe down in the middle by going under the roll bars.
